Copaxone Approved for use in CIS (March 09)

Hi everyone,
I mentioned in a thread with Julie, that Copaxone has been approved by the FDA to use in people with Clinically Isolated Syndrome.  She was very interested and I posted the links there.

But in case you don't see that post, I thought it would be good to start a new discussion here.

This news was released by TEVA, the mfg. of Copaxone, in early March.

I understand that Avonex and Betaseron are also approved for this first use and Rebif is in trials for approval too.

If you google the topic, you will come up with multiple websites that have discussions about this news.

my best,
Lulu

Julie,
Thanks for the pep talk on being our own best advisers when it comes to our care.

Is anyone out there on a DMD  because of CIS and not fully dx'd with MS?  I would sure like to know,
Lulu

Many of us might even know that there are DMDs approved for CIS conditions.  And, probably many of us aren't even aware that we have been dx with CIS unless you ask yoru doctor.

This is a wonderful link to learn more about what can be done for those of us who are have a high probability of converting to MS or who had a CIS.  I intend to take this information with me to my next neurologist appointment because I think it will help the doctor know that I am serious about finding a treatment that will help me from getting worse.  If he feels I meet the CIS category, then he might think about treating.

It never hurts to share what we learn with our doctors and I highly recommend everyone take a look at this information and gooogle for more if needed.  Knowledge is power.
