pain in thr roof of mouth

Hello everyone,
After a long busy day at work yesterday I came home and my gums and teeth were aching. My nose was tingling most the day which isn't uncommon on a stressful day.
I took some Tylenol and Sudafed thinking maybe I was getting a sinus headache. Not uncommon for me to have some gum and tooth pain with a doosey sinus headache coming on.
A little while after that I got this excruciating pain in the roof of my mouth, like someone was twisting a knife there. OMG, it was awful. Soon after came muscle aches and spasms. I felt like a wet noodle.
Got up today and feel like I had been hit by a truck, achey and the same mouth pain in teeth and gums.  Minus the stabbing pain.  I only made it an hour at work and had to come home.
I don't have any dental issues. It hurts to chew food.
Haven't called the Neuro as she has the 24 hour rule for symptoms. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Could this be from the ms?
Thanks for listening :)
Regards, barb

Thanks Ren,
I agree, the dental pain was excruciating and involved all of my teeth. And the pain in the roof of my mouth was certainly something I don't want to experience again anytime soon.  I didn't call the Neuro cause my symptoms barely lasted 24 hours. I was however totally wiped out from this and still am.

It's nice that your Neuro and PCP work together.  Glad you were able to get an MRI right away and that it came back with no changes.  I guess it's just another MS mystery. There seems to be so many unknowns with this disease and its so frustrating. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Best regards, and thanks again, barb

I recently, 2 weeks ago, had the same symptoms with the left side of my face going numb including the roof of the left side of my mouth. Even had an uneven smile for a few hours. I do suffer from trigeminal neuralgia but this was a TOTALLY  different presentation..

My PCP and neuro still aren't sure if it was a TIA or a MS relapse as the symptoms lasted 24 hours the dissipated. An MRI done almost a week later (thanks to insurance approval, arrgh) didn't show any changes or enhancing lesions.

I can say that the dental pain was excruciating. Something I never experienced before nor do I want to repeat.I would agree with giving your neuro a call if symptoms persist.

Best,
Ren

Hi guys, thank you for your response. I think my doc thinks I'm nuts. When I speak to her about these weird issues , she looks at me like  I have 3 eyes.
I have had trigeminal neuralgia but it was different pain. Maybe I am just experiencing it differently now.
I also have been experiencing some occipital neuralgia pain, but that usually doesn't involve your mouth.
I feel like I'm losing my mind cause it's always something since my dx. Trying to stay positive and keep my sense of humor. Sometimes it's just hard when you feel like doody all the time.
Thanks for listening.

When I get TN it always involves tooth pain. It is like I have a tooth ache for every tooth on the left side of my mouth, both upper and lower including where I have missing teeth.

It is so weird how pain in the mouth and face can come from so many different places.  I have had periodontal work done and have not so great teeth.  i can get the tiniest piece of food lodged in my gums of the molars and set off headaches, neck pain, sinus discomfort, ear aches ..... it just depends on what nerve it might be close to.

Trigeminal neuralgia might be the same way...

As I read your description all I could think of is the pain I get in the roof of my mouth and the brain freeze from eating something very cold.  Ouch!!!

I hope it has stopped by now or your doctor has some tips for you.

Thanks for responding Alex. I have experienced trigeminal neuralgia, but it didn't involve the tooth pain or roof of my mouth.
I will give the doc a call tomorrow if this persists.
Have a good evening.

It might be Trigeminal Neuralgia. I would call the Neurologist.
