I have back and neck pain. My MS Specialist sent me to a pain clinic. It is the best thing that ever happened.

It's possible that you are having some type of neuropathic pain. I have it in my feet. There is nothing wrong with my feet themselves, but they often hurt.
The problem isn't with my feet, or your back, but with the communication between the CNS and the pain centers for the effected areas. The nerves along which these messages travel are damaged. That gets sent is corrupted in transit and tells the associated pain center to fire.
I'm not sure if this is what you're experiencing, but if it is it can be treated with meds.
