Thinking MS

I have been struggling lately with several things.  I joined this MedHelp a little over a week ago.  I was tested for MS in 2005 and told it was negative; however, since then I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  I have MS in my maternal family-my great Aunt and my maternal parent has it.  I also struggle with asthma/breathing issues, fatigue and insomnia at the same time, and incontinence. Things have been worsening lately and hearing problems and trouble swallowing have recently begun as well,  When I joined this MedHelp I was asking about legs and feet that are so cold they burn and since that time I have discovered that when they do finally warm up they feel like they have rug burns and electrical sensations in them.  Often it feels like they have something on them and they don't.  I can be covered up and still freezing; however, the outside doesn't feel that cold to me.  My legs are weakening as well and I am struggling to get around again.  I'm also struggling with headaches and some vision disturbances as well as light headedness that comes and goes plus ringing in the ears.  I know, I sound like a mess and feel like one too!  I do have a dr. appointment on February 7 with a new physician.  Anything you can suggest would be so helpful to me.  It's just getting scary with all these things adding up.  Thanks!

I'm glad you are seaking help again. A lot can change in 7 years! What tests were done in 2005? I do hope you find the answers you need to feel better and be able to have some control over it all.

I would just suggest being very open and having some sort of timeline or log you can share with the doctor that shows when symptoms started. As some other members noted in a different recent thread...I would not go into the office and say "I think I have MS". But rather, "I want to know what is happening to my body to make all these various things happen"! Let them do the full workup on you and go from there.
Please keep us posted regarding your appointment.
Take care,
Kim

Hi and welcome to this wonderful forum. This must all be very scary that you're going through. I regognize some of these symptoms, but I am not yet diagnozed I am in that so called Limbo. I´ve been having strange symptoms since June 2010. At first the neuro thought some kind of neuropathy, like polyneuropathy and then I did the EMG test witch was negative, so that can no longer be neuropathy.

You would have to rule out so many stuff that act a little like MS (called ms mimics) so there is EMG, bloodworks and more. So you should prepare you're self for some waiting time, but the first thing is seeing a neuro. You can read my symptoms story on my profile page, to see how it has been for me. I always think it is helpful comparing, and see how different the neurosymptoms can be. But good luck in your search for answers, I hope this gets better for you. (sorry about my English)

My best,
Dagun
