off topic stupid questions

Some people put "OT" in the title for your question box, followed by whatever the're asking.
What does "OT" mean?

The funny little stars by our name - how do we accumilate these? And can we lose them? (I could swear I used to have more by my name.....maybe my eyes are going)

I had another question, but I can't think of it....what was my other question?     there, that'll do

Thanks

Mike

I always thought it meant Over Time.

I keep on learning, makes me feel old.

In the mid 80's we were packing to move, both of my sons said " Dad what are those?"  and  I responded by saying   " Kids those are 8 tracks".

So when I saw  LP on this site,  I knew it wasn't Long Playing record  :-D

Hi Mike,
I think you have got the lingo....

Pastor Dan,
My daughter's fiancee does normal radiology stuff , the type of Xray for broken bones and ultrasound, he is not trained in MRI although he can or does have a fair idea, his best friend is though, but i wanted them to look at mine but he wouldn't do it, said it is a specialist field and I was too close to him, told me to leave it to those who are trained, but he did get the report for me real quick.

Hope y0ou get some answers soon.

Next thing you know I'll be texting HAH  er-umm LOL i mean.

Anyway, keep L-ing O L, or LOLing, OK?

Your question was not really that stupid but hey my daughter's fiancee asked the other day why people put xxx ooo in cards, now how could you go through life and not know what they stand for?  He had no idea, I cried laughing when he asked, I plan to bring it up at their wedding and the line about my daughter's aftershave smelling nice!!  We had to tell him that it was perfume for ladies (lol)

b.t.w. (by the way) LOL stands for laughing out loud or some people say lots of laughs and b.t.w. by the way...lol

My daughter's fiancee is a radiographer/radiologist/paramedic (very multi skilled guy) but it fails me how he got through life and didn't know what xxx ooo stands for.

(we can't all know it all :-)

Cheers,
Udkas.

I didn'y know either, and just the other day was quite confused that I had a star! on further investigation ( my home page) it said something about expert answer for neurology, I thought heck I'm not expert and I have only posted on the MS board. Mostly asking questions as I quite new here.
So thanks Mike for asking that question and I had no idea what OT was either.
Thanks

Mike,

I think maybe you did that on purpose, ha ha. You laughed at me on my post earlier and just felt the need to return the favor right?

I have to say that there are all kinds of things that I don't get so I just scan through and see if I can figure it out.

As for forgetting well lets just say that I'm not sure but I think that I do that all of the time!

Thanks for the laugh - take care
Hugs,
Erin :)

Thanks for the laugh Mike - I definitely needed one.  I really thought you were messing with us, but then I find out your were serious.  Are you blonde? I am and pull some good ones, too.

We've not been told what the magic formula is for those stars, but it appears to be mainly the number of posts you make.  Quality doesn't seem to be a factor so you WILL get credit for this quesiton  LOL

Another OT thing - have you looked at your expert categories?  You find that when you look at the questions you are being asked to reply to.  You can deselect the categories - I have turned all of mine off and now I have no extra questions being sent my way.  I can't keep up with all of these here, let alone aswer questions in the pregnancy or anxiety forums.

best, L

I guess it's too late to get this post erased.......

Hey PasterDan, I like Outside Temperature. That way I'll know whether or not to wear a coat.

Thanks folks, I hereby award you a gold star by your name.....(do I have the authority to do that)...now I'm getting OT, but I'm OK with it

;))

Overtime.  Old Testament.  Outside Temperature.  Oil Tempered.

I'll bet Off Topic would work.

What was your other question?

The stars are part of a new program MedHelp has instituted. They say that number of stars reflect the value of the poster's contributions to the forum, or in our case, neurology in general. MS will not be singled out, which concerns many of us who feel we are definitely not knowledgeable about other facets of neurology.

Number of posts certainly figures into the equation. I don't know what other criteria MH uses in awarding stars, but they say there are other factors.

I find it interesting that we have had almost no comment about stars on this forum. The Community Leaders are happy that there appears to be no competition among members and no judging of others' posts.

For more info on this, go to the Top Neurology Answerers column on the far right. At the bottom there is a link to an explanation by MH.
