First dose of Avanex

Yesterday I gave myself my first dose of Avanex, (with the nurse present) in the arm. It wasn't completely terrible and the side effects were none-to-mild. I pretty much slept through them. I feel well enough to venture out today. They are weaning me on to it. I took a 1/4 dose yesterday, 1/2 dose next week, 3/4 the week after. then I will start a full dose.

Hopefully everything stays good with my liver and lesions and I can just stay on it. I'm looking forward to getting some normalcy back in my life.

I am a little nervous about giving the next dose by myself with no nurse. Maybe I will call one of my nurse friends over to "babysit". :)

Good job Ojibaj!

If you feel uncomfortable, call that nurse, surely they should have no problem walking you through one more for good measure!

Glad you are on your way,

I am so glad to hear you are feeling well today.  Funny how we don't know how bad we are feeling, until we feel good.  So glad things are looking up and hopefully the next shot will go over well as it did with the nurse.

Well today I felt fine. I had no fatigue or flu-like symptoms or anything. My flare symptoms also seem to be pretty much gone. Today is the best that I have felt in WEEKS! My son and I met up with friends and their kids and hung out all day long. We were gone for like 8 hours and I was fine! I even ate chili dogs at our world famous local hot dog joint! I can't remember the last time that I felt this good. I hope that it last. I wish that I had felt this great during all of Spring Break. My house looks like a tornado hit it!

Congrats on getting it done - the first is always the hardest.  Having a babysitter to oversee the enxt one is a good idea if you feel you need it. My othamologist said her friend in Med school was dx'd with MS and she came to her house every week to have her give the shot.  She was studying to be a doctor but couldn't do her own injections.

best, Lulu
