Had a great trip

Hello, everyone! I'm home from a wonderful vacation that included a cruise around the Baltic Sea to the Scandinavian countries, as well as St. Petersburg in Russia, not to mention several days in London, which was actually warm and sunny!

Also drove my pup 4 hours at the beginning to stay with her 'cousins' in NY State, and drove up to get her aferwards. So I'm still really pooped, and confused tme-wise. At one point we were 8 hours ahead of US Eastern Daylight Time.

I'm so glad to have made this trip. It was arranged well over a year ago, when my fatigue wasn't so overwhelming, and I was afraid I'd get too worn out to have a good time. However, things worked out well. I skipped the evening entertainment and one time even dinner to catch up on my rest, and had some good books with me, so that helped. Traveling is so exhausting with all the waiting and security, etc., but cruising means a minimum of packing, repacking, and schlepping luggage around.

Aside from the manageable fatigue, I didn't have a lot of MS stuff to contend with. My right leg is still bothersome and I had to lift it manually over various obstacles, all in all not bad. What really surprised me, though, was my heat reaction. Who'd think I'd be dripping and sweating in the Norse country, where it was actually quite chilly. No one else in my group had that, and I'm sure they thought I was strange, but I'm used to that sort of thing. When I get overheated I don't feel worse symptoms, I just feel miserable in my own private 'sauna.' Makes me want to peel my clothes off and hop into a shower a dozen times a day.

I am several weeks behind on the forum so will never catch up. I hope you all will forgive me and send me links if I start in on something that has just been thoroughly discussed. Many thanks in advance for that.

I see lots of new names/faces here, and look forward to getting to know you. And to all my old friends, it's great beng back with you.

Many hugs,
ess

Sounds like a wonderful trip and I'm glad you were able to make it work for you. St. Petersburg is a great city, although I was there in the winter and I'm sure it's more pleasant in summer. Hope you were able to successfully avoid the local water.

GG is so right - just because we live with this MySterious disease it doesn't mean we have to stop living.

Just goes to show - many of us "MSers" travel, work, play, raise our families, etc., just like anyone else.  You GO, girl!!  Glad you had such a wonderful trip.  I'm not so secretly jealous!

Yes, I spent several hours in the Hermitage (not nearly enough!). It was fabulous, the highlight of the trip. Hope you get to go someday!

Welcome back and hi!  I am a newbie.  ;0)  I am undiagnosed.  5 years now.

Sounds like you had an amazing trip!  Kudos to you for going on it!

I have been worried about a trip I plan on going on.  I placed a baby up for adoption and have been talking to her for the past 2 years.  She is in Michigan and I am in Cali.  I am planning on going there to meet her and her family in person.

Welcome home!

Did you get to the Hermitage as side trip by chance? I would give my eye teeth to go there.
