You sound like me, but add in pelvic floor spasticity, too. Still can't use the bathroom the correct way because of it. :-(
The PT just made it hurt more. I think with the tear, they've got to go in a repair it. It won't be a hip replacement. I'd be freaking out more if I was already at that point - having to have a hip replacement.
Hugs back to you L.
PT is working on my left hip these days - it is tilted and rotated and they believe it is coming from the hamstring , IT band and quad, being too tight (maybe due to spasticity).
I hope the injection helps and you can skip the hip replacement. more hugs, L
Thanks Candy. Always nice to have your ((hugs)). :-)
I'm sorry sweetie, boy oh boy, seems like you can't get a break either. I sure hope that they will find something to help you really, really soon.
((hugs)) to you from me,
Candy
That makes sense.
I don't think it's cortisone. I remember telling her that I had a steroid injection before in my bursa (at least that's where the doctor thought she was injecting it into). And I had a really bad reaction to it.
I think she was saying this other injection, which will be going into my joint, will be a different kind. Hmmm, now I'll have to call them and ask.
Hi Kelly -
When one part of your body is not working well others will try to compensate. This kind of compensation often leads to over/misuse of the healthy parts. This misuse can result in "referred Pain". If spasticity is causing you to put undue stress on you hip, relieving the spasticity may "fix" you hip.
Been there, done that. I do not think my hip issues were caused by my MS, but they did cause problems elsewhere. My left hip got so bad I couldn't walk 25' without being in serious pain. By the time I saw an orthopedic doc, my right knee was so uncomfortable that I figured it was next to get fixed.
When I had my hip replaced I stopped putting extra strain on my knee. Within a week it started to feel much better. And now it's fine.
Is you injection cortisone?
Kyle
Yes, exactly. I think it's secondary.
They have to do an injection on I think Nov 11th to see if the injection helps. If it helps, then for sure I'll have surgery. So, I won't know when the surgery will be until probably around Nov 18th. They want to wait a week to see what my response is to the shot. Either way, I know I need surgery, whether or not the injection works. I have so much pain. It feels like my tendons around my hip are going to rip themselves off my leg.
Thanks!
Morning Kelly,
Sorry i've only got left hip pain because i've mucked up my right foot, so i'm straining it with a weirder gate than my norm and if all goes to plan, that will be the end of it. Not really MS related, or not technically, (I mucked up the foot from my weird walking gate) so i'd not be surprised if pwMS can have secondary hip and knee issues.
When are your having the hip surgery?
Hugs...........JJ
