I went to the opthamalogist about 4 months ago for my vision problems before I new anything about my MS. They couldn't figure out why I couldn't see. I have 20/20 vision.
They gave me no advice to go to the doctor or anything of the sort. The only thing they kept asking me was is if I had diabetes. 3 different opthamalogist at the same apt. asked me this. I told them no, that I didn't think I did, never heard this or been asked this question by a GP.
I was just remembering this had happend and what they said. I was in major cog fog at the time, thinking thst I was seriously going crazy. Finally found a GP who said w all my symptoms they think I may have MS. Scheduled me an apt. w my neuro for later that week, the MRI's started 3 days later and I was dx 3 weeks later.
I'm not sure where to look this up and I don't have an apt w my neuro for 3 months. If anyone can help me out w this question that would be awesome! Thanks !

Diabetes is easily dx with blood tests and i would expect that your gp at some stage would of done this basic rutine test, if you have shown any sx consistent with diabetes eg unquenchable thirst etc Asking if you have diabetes is of its self ruitine because if you did already have diabetes their findings would be easily explained and not indicating another significant disease which is what you ultimately was dx with ie MS.
I would say you really should get the opthalmologist report, because they saw something and i suspect it might of been something like a pale optic disc (ON) or something similar. Seriously your GP would not of said "they think........ may have MS" if what they found was consistent with diabetes instead.
I wouldn't think that comment is at all meaningful, now your dx.
Cheers..........JJ
