I am new to this forum and have a ??

I have been diagnosed with having MS at the beginning of June..My hubby and I have accepted it and we are dealing with this disease the best way we can I am on meds I am on Betaserum, but here is my ?? I was a diet coke drinker for about 12 years I have been diet free for about 4-5 months now I am optimistic and have been told on friday ( yet again ) that aspertame causes you to have symptoms of MS, Lupus, and alzheimers even to the point of having the same type of lesions on your brain I see my family dr on wednesday as I have to be checked every month for blood as you are all well aware would it do any harm to ask?? I am not getting my hopes up as hubby says it could be a bigger crash for me but what are the chances of this?? I was free of diet coke for approx 2 months when I got checked with the Evoked Potential and the MRI so I have no clue how long it takes??? any answers would be great as I am wracking my brain on this lol...thanks so much!!! I should add all the symptoms that are MS are also Aspertame Poisoning" so I am quite lost on this...Thanks once again!!!

Thanks for the info a part of me was hoping it could be true my friend seen it on W5 which is a respectable television news broadcast here in Canada and then I started to research last night and the ?'s have been flying but it is okay cuz I am going to be fine just stuck doing needles lol The meds I have been blessed with having hardly any side effects I go to my full dose on friday..my work has been great I am doing 3 12's and pretty much don't work if I am to tired which hasn't been the case as of yet ( I think I am to stubborn to give in lol )--I dispatch for a major trucking company up here so busy isn't the word some days lol the only major problem I have with the needles is I leave tiny bruises when I inject myself but I think that will come in time I will be a pro and then they will offer pill form lol I am on my way to bed shortly as 3am comes early talk soon and thanks for the encouraging words!!!

Welcome!  I've not been keeping up with the forum, so forgive me if I welcomed you and you're not new.

You have found a very, very good place for support.  The people here are just wonderful!  I'm sorry about your diagnosis and the fact that you'll be having to give yourself shots--the joys of MS (not)!   One day soon, however, they'll be coming out with an oral medicine that has even a better effectiveness rate that what they have now---won't that be wonderful?

Oh sweetie, I hope you're not putting in hopes into the fact the MS is caused from aspertame and can reversed by doing away with it.  The truth is, that this is an urban legend (I hope it wasn't your doctor that told you about the aspertame).

I also thought at one point that this could be true, but I found out that it is unfortunately not true.  If that was the case, it would be making headlines across the world and I, for one, wouldn't have to be giving myself shots every day.   I've been off of it for a very long time, and my condition has not improved at all.  However, it's always a good idea to at least try some holistic approaches.  I know someone with MS that is doing well on the Swank diet.  She says that it's helping with the fatigue and the nausea that she gets with her Avonex shot side effects.

Well anyway, I could ramble on and on and never really even say anything . . .  So I'll cut myself off here and wish you a heart-felt welcome!

Deb

Thank goodness you found us and said this!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU HEAR ABOUT ASPERATAME CAUSING YOUR MS!!!!!!!!   WHEW!!!!!!!!! Glad to get that off my chest.

I'll stop hollaring now.  Be rest assured, your diet coke drinking ways did not cause this.  You did not cause this in any manner.  I promise!

We are so very glad to have you. You will learn so much hear about MS.  I glad to hear that you and your husband are doing this together for you.

Oh, who is telling you this? I'd like to yell at them too, though it is Sunday, and Lord I apologize, but this 'fires' me up.  Because it's got you all worried that you've done something.

Thanks for popping in here ShellJ - Looking forward to finding out more about how you were diagnosed, andhow you are feeling now  and how the meds are going.

ttys,
Shelly
