I'm 45 yrs and I feel like I have achieved absautely nothing. To get to the point////// the best years of my body looking good is over!!!!  Since I been injecting copaxone in my thighs the have truly taken on a whole new shape...not the most flattering....my neuro said I don't have that deformity that is associated with copaxone, I gueas with my weight gain, from the differnt x's of using prenisone, zoloft, and I'm not sure but copaxone has steroids in it as well ???

So I switched my antidepressant to celexa,I'm not presently on prenisone. My new therapy for MS is Avonex. So I plan to exercise very soon. I know I'll feel better. My relationship is on the brinks. My job is screwwing around with my workman compensation....

Iv'e been in my house for days now..i must be the boring person...so I'll read l day...

Thank yall  so much for the uplifting comments. It truly meant alot  to me...yes I was definitely having a moment. The celexa seems to be a milder antidepressant, at least that's the way I felt. My mood was more up beat with the zoloft, but I didn't like the wieght gain and the side effects that came along with it.
Well the Avonex I haven't had a full dose yet.. I have 1 pre- measured dose  left which is 1/2 of a full dose. Then next week I start the auto injection. Physically I feel much better since I started  Avonex.
I will monitor my mental health and the frequency of my down days.
Jen I did join the forum you started the other day. But right now I have cog.  fog I can't remember the web site .please send it to me when you get time.

Thanks again everyone. I'm feeling so much better today. ( Birds are singing and the sky is blue again!)

Hey, I'm 43...  what do you mean our best years of looking good are behind us....   Yes, i've gained weight too with copaxone, tho its not supposed to be a side effect.  But, I've been doing yoga and building muscle and looing into programs that might help with weight loss.

I am sorry that the relationship situation is on the edge, but sometimes things happen for a reason and you have to get past where you are to find where you are meant to be....   I was just married in September, for the first time at 42, so don't think that 45 is too old for anything!!!

I had posted a note to your profile this mornng before even seeing this post....   Where are you in Philly area?   How close are you to getting to Lansdale?   I am going to the NMSS support group there and another online MSers, Sue, is also coming along to meet in person.   Join us!!  Not the most exciting night but get out of the house and get someplace positive...   We are looking to put together a meetup group in our area for more activities - lunches, shopping, hobbies, etc.;  and to help people find friends for trying things like yoga, pilates, etc but not wanting to go alone.

Please think about joining us, think it might be good for you...  I know I peronally have found many of my friends do not know how to handle the MS..  they are wonderful to talk with, but just do not know how to handle shopping or outings..  so maybe many of us need to build a new circle of friends for enjoying activities without having the MS hanging over everything.

I hope you are feeling a little better this morning!!!
Hugs,

Jen

Hi Francyna!

You beating yourself up a bit I see ;) Hmmmmm BUT, you've got an action plan! You are switching up some things to treat your MS, Avonex is a good choice and o once a week will give your body a break where multiple injection goes. You've switched to Celexa, and I hope that serves you well.

So, next up your relationship, and work issue.... Do the best you can, that's all you can do - make sure communication lines are open, and if they are not - ask for it.

Give yourself some credit for what you have done so far - which I feel is alot.
(((((hugs)))

JJ is so right.... do not ignore this and if the feelings exist, talk to your doctor about other drug options to treat the depression.  At 45 years old, it is quite possible your life is just beginning with the chance to make change for yourself and the world around you.  Don't equate your physical appearance with your worth - those are two totally different things and we can too easily fall into thinking that slim thighs and perky boobs make us a better woman.  That's not the truth and I think you know it.....

get to the doctor and discuss the depression and the connection with Avonex and the other treatments you are on.

hugs from me, too!

Hey babe,

I'm sorry to here your having a rough time at the moment :o( thats not good! I did wonder if the reason behind it though, could be with your changes of medication. Avonex is often switched because of increase of anxiety or depression so if you've already started using it or just about to, it might be worth looking through our 'search this community' pages for Avonex and depression posts.

It can also take time to start feeling the benefits when changing your depression medication, sometimes the weeding off of one so you can start the new one, can take a bigger toll than expected. Sometimes the medication its self can cause your depression to worsen and these medications may take a few changes, before you find the one that suits you best, my dd tried 5 before 'endep' and she's stayed on that one for years, the others made her depression worse.

If you feel worse now than you did before changing to 'celexa', please discuss this with your dr, dont ignore how your feeling please!

Hugs.......JJ
