I'm shocked @ my half-baked smile

Hi~
I'm pretty glum today.  I am very, very excited to start my new job at the well-respected teaching hospital near my home next Tuesday.  I am even more excited that today is the LAST day at my current job with my psychotic boss.

The thing I wanted to share is that I went to the hospital early this morning to turn in some 'new hire' paperwork, and to get my security badge and had my photo taken for the badge.  The 'photographer' was very dry.  He had no 'play' in him at all, so I just sat and smiled for the camera.  Won't go into that silly story.

I walked out of the security office with my new picture ID badge in hand and was SHOCKED at how droopy the left side of my smile is.  I had noticed it somewhat in my driver's license pic last March, but now it's really pronounced.  I look weird.

Lately I have felt the heaviness in the left side of my face, but I have been so busy with this transition of the new job, I really have thought nothing of it.  I look weird.

I am sure that if the photog had been more jovial and I had smiled more brightly, it may not have been such a huge difference from one side of my face to the other.  I don't even want to look in the mirror to find out.  It really shocked me to see it.  I don't like it.

It sounds so vain, but people have complimented me on my smile.  Now it's so weird.  I'll get over it, I know.  It's just vanity. So many have disabilities they are dealing with right now.  This is cosmetic, really, but it threw me.  I will get over it.

Wanted to share....

Zilla*

Not to worry!  I had this problem last year - my right eyelid drooped, and the right side of my face wasn't responding like the left.  Now everything's back to normal.

I got one for you!!!  A few years ago I had to renew my DL.  When my new  one came back it had a note with stating that of I would like, that they would retake it!!!!!  (HAHA)   I thought man how bad can it be?  To my relief they was a line thorugh the middle of it.
I just thought that it was funny that I automaticlly thought it was because it was a bad pic.

Truly the pic was pretty bad!!!!  But I kept it just to make some kind of point.  Not sure what kind of point, but I refused to redo it.

I wish I could send you one of the badge holders I make, made with your favorite stones or Swarovski crystals; then no one would even look at the silly badge.  I could even put a few dangling beads that move and obscure the picture that doesn't show the real you.

You know you're still you, and that if you would have been encouraged to smile more brightly, your wonderful self would have shown through.

I recently noticed in a picture that my smile is lop-sided, and complained to my best friend of 9 years or so, and she said that it has always been that way.  I know that you'll adjust after the initial shock.  I'm glad you came here and shared with us rather that keep the disappointment to yourself.

You're a beautiful person; we all know that!

Thank heavens you're getting away from the psycho boss!  I'm sure the new job will be everything you hope and more.

Keep smiling!

Love,

Kathy

Hey Sweetie, your not vain at all.  I have decided that my mind and soul jumped over to this strangers body since beginning this journey.  I keep looking, asking where did my body go?  I look in the closet thinking maybe I had just hung her up somewhere, maybe aired her out for awhile.... hehehe  My kids took a pix of me and the person that popped up on the computer screen was a chunky, moon face, eyes bugged out stranger.  I couldn't believe that was me.  I really wanted to update my photo here but did not like the stranger looking back at me.  UGH, maybe Glamour Shots could spray paint my old face back on for just a few minutes........

Dont worry about it Zil, who really looks at those things anyway?  :) ))-me w/my double chin......

Love Ya Girlfriend!

Don't feel glum. I can relate with my droopy eye. It's funny that you mention that because I had a little problem with a little bit of lopsidedness myself this week. My left eye is droopy and my left side of my mouth was too when I tried to smile. It was like it was weak on one side. Oh Well. We could always be the bopsie twins.

Cheer Up! Everything will be ok. This limbolands for the birds but WE will pull through it.

P.S. I'm glad you got away from your nasty boss.

Maybe it just brought back memories from your hospitalizations with the weakness??  And just another reminder that things aren't normal??

I understand.  I really do.

Let's just look forward to getting out of work today and away from that stressful job!!

It doesn't sound vain.  Is it because you "feel" yourself to be one way, but afraid maybe your exterior (your smile) does not reflect those feelings...and people won't see the real Zilla?

I'm glad you are getting away from psycho boss, and let's hope the new job brings out that smile...seen or unseen...people will "see" the real Zilla!

SMILES,
Wanna :o)    <<--Maybe a clown nose would help?  It works for me!!!

Hi there,
You can put me on the same side of the fence with this one, but it has to do with all the age lines that have suddenly appeared when I look in the mirror.  Yikes! Who is that woman staring back? I've long given up on having id photos looking good - whatever it is no one looks at them closely except for ourselves anyway.  Go back to smiling ......

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

Laura
