Is There A Longer Lasting Muscle Relaxer

I've been having trouble with an increase with my spasticity/muscle spasms lately. I'm currently on Baclofen for this issue. My neuro said that I could raise the dose according to how much spasticity I'm in, but not to exceed 100mg. My problem isn't the dosage, it's how long it last, especially at night. I'll take a dose before bed, but by early morning, I'm in horrible shape. I'm usually hurting so bad, I can't go back to sleep because of the tightening in the lower back, hip, rib cage, arm and leg. I'm not getting a full nights rest because of this.

Baclofen seems to only last 3-4 hours for me. I was wondering if there is something that last longer and would be better for nighttime use. Does Zanaflex last longer than Baclofen?  I love Baclofen for daytime use, but I need something that will last longer for the night so I can finally get a good 8 hours. Any ideas?

Klonopin (clonazepam) is a fairly long-acting sedative-relaxant.   It works well for me overnight when my back acts up the most.

I've heard that people with a Baclofen pump have more relief, and they end up taking less Baclofen overall, because it's in your system all the time.  That's just what I hear...  Sorry about the spasms - I know it's painful, and I'm just grateful I'm not having them all the time.

Hi,

I am on Klonopin for spasms. It is a long acting benzodiazepene. It does cause drowsiness and therefore I take at night. Initially, I was groggy the next day but about a week into it, the grogginess was no longer was a problem. It is a drug you need to start slow and work your way up.

Bacolfen did absolutely nothing for me, especially at night when I would wake up to excruciating leg cramps. I hope you find something that works right for you.
