more on Wobbly Daughter

Hi, all.

Just reporting in on yesterday's appt with rheumatalogist.  He's testing WD for juvenile idiopathic arthritis... and my internet reading shows one form of that which actually seems to match up to her current symptoms.  !  But, it still wouldn't explain most of what went on for past two years, so I have a feeling we aren't done yet.   Is it common for people to get more than one autoimmune disorder???

hi--thanks for the encouragement.  We will do as you say, and be persistent.

Have they ever come any closer to dxing you? I've tried to follow the posts, but get confused sometimes. Are you doing any better?

I agree, more than one thing may be happening, and I personally would be ok with mentioning the extra symptoms but be sure to have the testing done for the arthritis, and would be comfortable if it came back positive, as it is a diagnosis base on lab results, am I correct? If indeed, she has more symptoms, continue working with that doctor, and tell him that they are recurring and they will beginn then to test for other things on top of her arthritis. In the meantime, she will be getting treatment for the arthritis. As they said above,  auto-immune things can come together.

Hi dazedmom,

Well, seems that there are many instances where there are more than one autoimmune disorder with some of our members.

I know some have fibro and MS, and there are others but my brain is on vacation today and I can't think of them now.

If and when you go back to the rhemy, just voice your concerns about some of the symptoms that don't match with this possible dx.

I pray for your daughter to get a dx soon and for it to be the correct one so that she can get the treatment she needs.

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, even though you are having to deal with these health issue.  May 2009 bring you answers and better days.

Take care,
doni

Hello,

I'm no expert, but I think that it's not uncommon for people to get more than one autoimmune disorder.

I'm not diagnosed, but a recent appointment with a neuro-ophthalmologist is pointing towards Sjogren's Syndrome, but that wouldn't explain all of what's going on with me.

I looked it up, and 50% of people with Sjogren's have another autoimmune disease.

I'll be getting more blood work as soon as the snow and ice clear enough for my doctor's office to open, to see if Sjogren's is really on the table.  If that's positive, then a biopsy can seal that diagnosis, I think.

I have some brain lesions in areas consistent with MS, and signs and symptoms that fit, but after 10 months of testing, no diagnosis.  I will work with my doctor's to make sure that if I get one diagnosis that doesn't cover everything, they will keep looking.

Think up any questions you want to ask when next you see the rheumatologist so that you're prepared. I wish you and your daughter the best.

I hope your answers come soon.

Kathy
