What are you doing this week - August 23?

It is time for our weekly roundup of coming events - feel free to share whatever you wish that is going on this week.  I wish I had something fun to report, but it looks like work x 5days this week is the best I have to offer.

How about you?

be well, Lulu

Nothing medical this week as far as I know yet. I should be picking up Dave from the hospital some time this week.

I do have to contact my phone company as my home phone is out yet again. It seems like just about every other month I will lose my dial tone for no reason at all.  Even when it is working with all the noise on the line it is hard to hear or talk on it. Not sure why I keep it at this point. I guess it is because I still don't trust my cell phone in cases of emergency. I just barely get any signal for it at my home so with my luck it would be the day I need to call for help when I wouldn't get  a signal.

On the brighter side in the way of fun things that I hope to do this week is in the area of one of my favorite subject, FOOD.  Last week I was looking for some place to go out to eat and found what sounds like it might be a good German restaurant ( one of my favorite foods). It is about 70 miles from my home but if it turns out to have good German food it would be worth the trip.

I'll see the dentist Tuesday, work a few days and catch up on a bunch of neglected household chores otherwise.  Boring.  I'll love it.  Hopefully I'll also get a chance to catch up on what was happening with people here while I was entertaining relatives pre and post wedding.

Have a good one everybody.

I am enjoying the holidays with my husband home, before the school routine kicks in again early in September.

Nothing medical for me this week. My middle son with Aspergers has some GCSE exam results due tomorrow so waiting and keeping fingers crossed for him. My daughter is away till the end of the week with a friend on holiday and I am soooo missing her living in a house with 3 men (who constantly leave the loo seat up!!)

So time to get on with some long overdue tidying up and housework. I find have to grasp my energy whenit is there  as you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Have a great week folks

Love Sarah xxx :)

I am restarting copaxone this week. Hopefully, enough time has passed that I won't get the awful welts like I did last time after a year. :)

Another MRI, it's been six month since the brain MRI,  this time the DR wants it done with the optic nerve, w/o &w contrast.

Good news about the MRI ,  we  had a private Image company open  close to my home, and they have a 3T,  when I call them to schedule the MRI,  they had some great news for me,  first the MRI is larger than a 1.5T and I don't have any co-pay  OH YEAH !!!

When I asked why no co-pay they said they don't need to charge the same rates as the hospital, because the hospital is forced to see  those that are covered & not covered.

I pressed them a little  more on what they charge,  $1,550 with the report,  the hospital charges  $5,200  plus another $800 for the report.

Tuesday have final crown put in. Found out insurance covered none of it plus my last visit to the Neurologist with MRI is now over $1400 copay. My out of pocket medical for the first month of the fiscal year will be close to $4000 which was more than my tests and gall bladder surgery last fiscal year!  For the first time I will be making monthly payments to my dentist and the hospital.

Thursday riding my favorite thing in the week and therapy. Ironically in therapy I deal with why I deserve to spend so much on my self for medical stuff. My husband never goes to the doctor so he never has bills.

School shopping either today or tomorrow for my son who starts school on Sept. 7th

Wednesday I have an appointment for a visual evoked potential test, not sure what to expect there but I will see when I get there.

Thursday I have to take my mom to the cardiologist.

All the other days, nothing planned I will just play it by ear. I would like to catch a movie and go out for lunch, maybe I will do that with my son when we go school shopping. :)

Sorry, but I'm having trouble reading much of anyone's posts today.  Too many letters jammed together.  I pray for all, whether or not I know what's going on with any of you.

Today, I am waiting for my electrical inspector friend to call, so I can direct him up here to sign off on the work I've been doing on our electrical service since God-knows-when.  Oh, since the heat wave, with the breaker popping all the time, killing all three air conditioners.  We're okay right now as long as we don't use the microwave without pulling the plug on something else first.

I've installed a new laundry receptacle and have the wire halfway back to the new panel.  Funny, even though this house was allegedly built after the advent of household wiring, they sure didn't make it easy.  Of course, since this house seems to have been put together, expanded, and remodeled (more than once) from the scraps the previous owners could salvage, a lot of things just aren't the way I'd build them - or expect a sensible person to build them, either.

What the history of this place seems to show is what can be acccomplished by a determined and persistent person who has very little understanding of what they're doing.  Reminds me of my third neuro.

I am also trying to get movement started on the replacement glasses; the dime-store pairs aren't getting the job done.  Insurance is going to cover nearly half, but we're still talking about more than I've spent so far on the electrical work.  Complicated by the fact that the maker of my lost frames is in litigation with the gang that administers Nancy's vision insurance.  I was under my previous employer's coverage when the intrepid set was made.  Ah, while typing this epistle, I set up an appointment for Wednesday (earlier than I really like to be out).  Will look at alternative frames & possibly save as much as another 10% if we find one that meets my criteria and the plan's.

Tim fainted at church yesterday.  Believed to be a fairly common teenager thing caused by not eating much of real substance for too many hours; blood sugar was low, but rebounded quickly once he had juice, etc., & seemed fine after a good meal.  Squad crew remembered him from the training exercise in which he participated earlier in the year, in which they all rappelled down the side of the high school auditorium.

Just in case, since he's going to see the foot doc tomorrow anyway, Nancy scheduled him to see his pediatrician down the hall shortly afterward.  Despite her boss's whining, she's taking the day off.

Think I might be finally getting the upper hand on the sinus crud that followed me home from Michigan.  Maybe.

If anything else is supposed to be on my calendar, I've forgotten to put it into the electronic one.

Peace, blessings, & all.

Dan,

I feel for you with your house. I know exactly what you mean. The guy that built my home had no idea of what he was doing either. Not one window or doorway is square or plumb in this house, there is about a 3 inch drop going down the central hallway, etc.

I leave this forum on the largest A at the top to get the largest print.  That's OK on average days.

When the eyes begin to falter and vision does the wax and wane and blur, I hold down the contol key on my keyboard while tapping the + at the end of the numbers row.  It enlarges the entire screen.  Sometimes it will mean you have to engage a scroll bar at the bottome of the screen but it usually just eliminates visual of the ads on the sidebars.  (Sorry PR firms.  I don't miss seeing your hype.)

TO REVERSE THE PROCESS AND RETURN CONTROL OF YOUR MONITOR SCREEN TO WHATEVER OR WHOEVER NORMALLY MAKES PRINT SIZE DECISIONS,....(anyone remember Twilight Zone?)

HOLD DOWN CONTROL KEY WHILE STRIKING THE - (DASH OR MINUS SIGN) FOUND BEWTEEN THE ZERO AND EQUALS SIGN ON THE NUMBERS ROW OF THE KEYBOARD.

NO NEED TO INVOLVE THE SHIFT KEY IN EITHER DIRECTION.

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.  I'M LOST WHEN I CAN'T SEE TO READ SO THIS WAS AN AMAZING DISCOVERY FOR ME.

It's a regular work week for me, which is typically very boring at the end of the month, as work flows in cycles. I work on tedious "projects" during this time. At this time of year, I really have to make a Herculean effort to stay focused and at work, with the wing of my building often being empty with people on vacation.

I have my third appointment with a my new neuro on Friday. Tests results thus far haven't picked up on anything other than possible degenerative disc disease, but I may have found a reason that would explain symptoms (lead poisoning over a two year period from 1990 to 1992) which I will be discussing with her.

Found out late today that this was my DS's last day of work for the Census. He turned 20 in March; an earlier post was asking to trade teenagers...just wait until you hit this age! As a single mother, these last 2 years of parenting have been the most challenging so far. Would not want to trade him in for another teenager or younger; that would mean I'd just have to go through so much of this stuff all over again. While I love my son, I do not love what I am going through with him right now. Would rather trade him in for a decent, kind and loving male somewhere close to my age who thinks I'm great!

Hope the week is good for you, whatever it may bring...down time, normalcy, helpful medical care, but most of all the love and support from others.

Audrey

I forgot to add that I bought a few tickets for the $100 million plus jackpot in Mega Millions. I have constructions issues with my home on top of not being able to do work on my own over the past few years.

Wish me luck?

I'm so happy to report that I have absolutely no medical appointments this week.  I need to work on my calendar as far as making sure I have all appoinment set up on my phone etc.  I have tons of paperwork that I need to complete before my sleep study.  So for me I am going to rest and do some writing.

good thoughts and prayers to all of you

I'm no gambler, Audrey, but if you win, I could be persuaded to virtually supervise all the repairs on your house.  Never mind; I could probably be persuaded to relocate the family to any better climate in which you'd want to build your new house.

Passed inspection with flying colors; power company expected here early tomorrow morning.  Should be fun.

Thanks, all.

Let's see, apparently I've lost my mind this week LOL My older two are in middle school and today was an ice cream social for the kids to get their schedules and parents to get the school calendar, etc. So, I had a whole day planned: take DH to work, take the kids to the middle school after lunch, go visit the elementary school so my 5 & 3 year olds could see their classrooms (kindergarten & pre-k). Then we get DH from work, have a picnic dinner and take the kids to the discount movie theater, which is 75 cent tickets on Monday.

Turns out the ice cream social was after dinner not lunch. Luckily I called before we left! So, today was a bit of a waste of gas...made worse by my 3-year-old yelling "I"M GOING TO THROW UP!!!" 5 minutes into a 40 minute drive back home. (Luckily he did not throw up this time!)

I also talked to Shared Solutions today, and my SS nurse. The autoinject & info are on the way. The online pharmacy has my info and I should hear from them by the end of this week. I'm to call the nurse back once I have the autoinject & the meds.

School work is caught up, I can't do anything more until I get my latest test back (I'm praying I did well on it!) I should get that Wednesday or so. I have nothing else to do until Friday when we are finishing up school supply shopping.

I'm just keeping my head down and trying to enjoy the last 2 weeks of summer vacation. I'll have 4 of the monkeys in full day school, one in afternoon pre-K, and only the baby home all day! I'm not going to know what to do with myself!

My week is now promising to be a bit more exciting than just work - We are giong to attempt the trip to Butler again this Saturday.  DJ promised today that she will stay healthy enough for us to come over and visit.

I have an eye appointment in the morning.  Then if I am not blind by being dilated I have to get a copy of my swallow study and speech therapy report for my doctor.

Friday I have a son turning 12!  Time goes by way too quickly.  :(  We will have his party on Sunday.

I have to go birthday shopping! He gets so excited about his birthday.  His name is Joshua.

His birth-mother used drugs and alcohol while she was pregnant with him.  He was born with Down syndrome and addicted to crack.  He was recently diagnosed with Autism.

I get a real kick out of how he gets so excited about his birthday.  He always wants pizza and cake. :-)

Unpacking and laundry and back to work.  Just arrived home from a wonderful few days in gorgeous Vancouver, I didn't want to leave!  Had a great time seeing people; brunch with my mom who looked fantastic six months after double bypass surgery; dinner with one of my best girlfriends in high school who I hadn't seen in 15 years; plus lots of other great meals and evenings with friends; showing my husband around the city as it was his first trip there; gorgeous weather; and to top it off we got to see Jerry Seinfeld doing his stand up routine, he was very very funny and on his game.  And now, back to reality.  Off to the doc for some meds, back to exercise after the eating and the cocktails, and busy week ahead at the office.

Dennis, I hope that new restaurant is a good one.  Hearty German fare is so delicious,  I love it too.

It's been a pretty exciting week around here. My daughter of 5 is starting school today, and my wife and I are taking the day off, to go with her, and catch some pictures of her coming off of the bus. She also lost her first tooth, which she lost at the swimming pool, ugh, but she has another one loose, so hopefully we'll be able to keep that one, lol. I am frightened and excited for her as she is starting a new adventure. She is a social butterfly, and not to spoiled :-), so I think she is going to love it.

I saw a Urologist and found that everything on the inside is fine, and that he believes it is neurological in nature, which I already have known, but it was good to hear that the old prostrate was in good shape. During the exam however, I was curious if someone had called ahead and told him that I had gold up there, because he was at it like a professional miner, lol. He was actually in there so hard that I started to pee, he laughed and said not to worry about it, "Now you've had a prostate exam".

I started a new med, to help me pee, and I have to say it was working well, until it felt as if a mule kicked my in my kidney. I immediately went off the med, and called the doc. Looks like I'm going to start Flomax today instead. Anything that helps I guess is better.

I know this is more than you bargained for, but if you managed to get through all of this, thanks for reading, I hope you all have a great week.

I sat here at 3:30am and read all of you guys' plans.  This thread in particular makes me feel really close to everyone.  there is so much more to us than just MS.

I have nothing to do this week except those necessary activities of maintaining a household.  Last saturday was our reception for my parents' 64th Anniversary and the Open House for all of our construction that the neighbors have been curious about.  IO gave about 10 tours of the house (WEARING my boot!), but it was far too much walking and I am paying the price of new pain in my ankle.

So, back into the recliner for more boredom and statuarial competition.
