I am sorry sounds terrible. I think I vote for a new Neurologist. Sorry about your job.
Alex
Long story short, I ended up spending two nights in the hospital, am no further ahead despite not being able to walk for a bit, wetting myself a couple of times and having horrendous pain in my spine.
The doctors told me that they didn't think my foot drop was related to a spine problem. Well hello, what else could it be?? Wetting myself, well yes, that could be related to an issue with my spine they said.
When they finally got hold of the Neuro (he's 150 miles away in another city), he said that if there was a problem with my spine it would have shown up on the spinal MRI three months ago (on 1.5T machine with REALLY old software). Really????
I was sent home today with an AFO, an appointment with the physio for next week and to see the Neuro in about three weeks time.
After a good bawl in the shower this morning I decided it's time for a new Neuro as I'm getting nowhere, it's only three months since I was last sick and I'm at the point where I'll probably have to give up my job.
Hey Poppy, sorry to hear this. Any update? It certainly sounds like a relapse. Take care.
Thanks JJ and ess. I phoned my Neuro's office late this afternoon and spoke to the secretary. She said she'd pass a message on to him and for me to call back tomorrow.
I think this is just another flare up in what's becoming a very recurring theme!!
Poppy
I agree with JJ, get it looked at. Pain that bad is nothing to fool with.
Trying to make a leg work that just doesn't want to or can't work normally could well be what's causing your back issues. Things getting out of kilter tend to set off a chain reaction.
Please see a doctor or physical therapist about this as soon as you can. Meds can ease the pain and spasms, and possibly some kind of brace can make you walk more normally.
This is a no-suffering zone, or at least we'd like it to be!
Hey babe,
Go and get it checked out! Something is obviously wrong and waiting any longer for it to fix its self is imho, is less likely to happen with how long you've already been dealing with it. IF lifting your leg a few inches, is so painful you'll almost vomit, you probably do need to get this looked at now....
Hugs........JJ
ps let us know how you get on!
