HELP? QUESTIONS

MY REPORT SAYS, THERE IS THINNING ON BOTH RETINA NERVE FIBER LAYERS.  THIS TEST CONFIRMS THE SUSPICION THAT THERE MAY BE AN OPTIC NEUAOPATHY AFTER ALL AND IN HER CASE, THAT IT WILL BE BILATERAL.  THE FUDUS PHOTOGRAPHS INDICATE RIGHT OPTICE DISC PALLORAND SOME ON THE LEFT AS WELL. WE WILL NOT CHANGE THE PLAN AS DESCRIBED ON MY PREVIOUS NOTE, BUT THE INDEX OF SUSPION FOR MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS REMAINS HIGH.

IS OPTICAL NEUROPATHY A FORM OF OPTICAL NEUROSIS?
WHAT DO THEY DO FOR THIS?
IS THERE A WAY TO STOP MY VISION LOSE?
SHOULD I START MEDICATIONS?

NEXT, APPT. MAY 20TH, 2008

Rae - call your Neuro Op's office and see if you can get in sooner.  I really think that will get things rolling.  The other probs you've had for a bit, and sounds as if the eye bit is fairly new to you - 3 wks in, you do need to go. . .

Your symptoms show some sort of neuropathy (nerve disease) problem.  But it's not going to be something that a person can diagnose online.  Only a neurologist can do that.  If you bring a list of your symptoms to your neurologist, along with a timeline of when they started, it will help a correct diagnosis.

I have been getting pain in my laft eye every 3 weeks or so. Lasts for 2 to 3 days. Take Gabapentin 200mg 3 xday, plus 800 mg IB profin 1 hour or 2 after 3xday.Kind of helps.

Every morning I wake up with numb fingers and toes. My hands hurt, like they are swelled up. I cant even make a fist with either. My big toe and the next 2 over have been numb for a week now. Fingers and hands get alittle better during the day. Left hand alot weaker than the right.

I deliver mail now, and on my route after walking about 3.5 miles. My left leg is so weak. I noticed in the snow my foot prints were not in a straight line kind like I go alittle to the left then straight and then alittle to the right. I can fell my body kind of sway like that. I am always very tired after 3 or 5  hours of work.

Also, I have this area on my back by my spine and shoulder blade about the size of a grapefruit that has pins and needels feeling all the time and electrical shocks feelings, everyday, constinately. It iches too really bad. Also, when I or my husband iches it I can tell that its numb in that area.

I am trying to wait until I go to see the Neuro-Ophthalmologist on May 20th @ 2:00, but I am starting to wonder if I should go to see my regular neuro for this. He is one of those I think it is all anxiety, stress, in your head doctors. So, I am affraid it is going to be a waiste of time.
What do you guys think?

Hi Rae,

I'm glad you've gotten back w/us.  I wish I had some good answers for you, but unfortunately, I really don't know much about this.  I'm sure someone will get up with you soon about it.

How are your eyes? Vision really bad? Any pain? If that is the case Rae, call that Docs Office and get in a little sooner.  This is your vision afterall, surely, they can find a hole in the schedule.  Did an eye Dr order the imaging, or the Neuro?  Sorry for all the questions, just think it will help the good folks here zero in a little more.

chat w/you soon,
SL
