I am having similar issues after a tetanus vaccine. Did your symptoms ever get better?
I would start with my GP.

Hi,
I would say to get yourself checked out, even if it's to find out what is going on and if needed get whatever treatments needed too. Hope you do.
I've recently experienced the MS hug myself, is exactly how jj and jenphilly have explained it!
Being all new to what I'm experiencing, I didn't have a clue what was going on to me either.
Only after being on here (which is a great site with lovely people who help) I got some answers.
Take care of yourself, hope you'll be ok.

Any thoughts
Hi JJ, thanks for responding. I am just extrememly worried , the pain has been on and off this whole weekend. its my sides and my back that are sore. My ssep was normal, along with mris of neck, back and brain. but i do understand you can still have ms even though these tests are normal
I don't think anyone can tell you for certainty what you're feeling... but I can only share for me what the hug is like. The hug usually involves the diaphragm and chest muscles. For me its the diaphragm going into a spasm and its a crushing chest pain and not feeling like I am able to breath. Does not usually last for extended times, but kinda happens in waves, where I'll have a 15 minute or longer episode, it releases, but then might happen again in a few hours.
Not sure how others would describe their experience, but its much like a bear hug (from a really mean nasty bear!!).
I hope you are feeling better!
Personally, when the Hug is bad the spasms and pain is similar to natural child birth, wave after wave after wave of intense pain, mine is in the intercostal muscles of the entire left side (front to back) of my ribcage and you can literally see the left side of my ribcage contract down and not release as it's suppose to do.
When it's good the intercostal muscles spasms are not as painful, I think that's because it's not the entire left side, just individual ones flutter spasming or thumping so it's not locking down the ribcage. I've currently got two intercostal muscles fluttering and doing the occasional thump, they've been doing their rhythmic spasm non stop for a couple of months, weird lol and they've freaked my husband out a few times but thankfully no pain, so to me it's good.
What you've described doesn't make me think of the MS Hug, but you probably should see your doctor because it could be something like a kidney infection or gastric related, worth getting it checked out by your family doc...
Cheers........JJ
