I agree with all of the above. Please read the Health Page, "General Principles of Treating Neuropathic (Nerve) Pain." This is an absolute MUST for anyone beginning one of these meds. Too often people fail on them because they started too high and moved up on the dose too fast. This HP was written by a pain management physician.

You can't just go up to the highest dose of gabapentin at once you have to work up to it. So for the first few weeks it may not be high enough to have any effect. I was taking 200mg 3x a day sometimes even went up to 300mg 3x a day. You can take up to 3600mg a day I believe, and higher with some doctors (Quix correct me if I am wrong). Also if you have found that gabapentin does absolutely nothing for you even when you get to the higher doses you might want to try Lyrica (pregablin) many have found that this works better for them. This is not the case with me, but others like it. Also you can't stop gabapentin cold turkey just thought I would let you know.

Thanks a bunch! I'm not sure how much more I can read about it. It seems like they all say pretty much the same thing but I will check it out anyway. Ya never know what you might find....right? :)
Take care,

Congratulations on the addition to your family!
I have been taking this medication for almost two weeks now. At first I was taking 100ml three times a day and that did absolutely nothing. After calling the Dr. several times it was increased a couple days ago to 200ml three times a day a I still haven't felt a thing including any better. I can barely move from the pain and it's getting to the point where I am considering taking some time off from work to deal with it. How many ml's were you taking?

I have taken gabapentin and am currently not on it due to pregnancy. I really like it. It helps me deal with the pain due to my symptoms. I have not noticed any side effects and am overall really happy with it. I am sure others will also tell you their opinions.
