My Physio Appt - Update...

Physio said that he can try to help my Vertigo if it's from inner ear... I told him I went to two ENT a few years ago and they tested me with water in the ears etc..visual, hearing...etc.. and said it wasn't my inner ear..? He said if Prednisone helps stop the Vertigo then it's not inner ear..and it stops my Vertigo... but when I stop the Prednisone it comes back worst then ever... so I don't really want to take the Prednisone and the MS specialist doesn't want me to take it anymore for Vertigo?  Not sure why...funny how they don't explain things and talk so quickly that I can't get a question in the conversation.  He couldn't not tests me for BPPV?  because I was having a bad day, off balance and all...I ended up having a spell while I was there.. so he said in the next few visits he will test me for innner ear.. since no one seems to have answers... and he of course said I sound like a 'MYSTERY' ... yeh right...he mentioned a PET scan, siince once in awhile I hear the C word come out from Dr.

He did ultrasound on my left shoulder, which has been sore for a few years and alot worst the past 6 months..can't lift it or move it in certain areas...he said its Bursitis and inflammation in my ?? area... so I'll be getting that done for the next few visits to see if it helps... the Prednisone helped that abit, but didn't stop it or fix it...it came back sore again as well.

He suggested I get a walker to help me get around better and if I have a dizzy spell I can sit down on it, a cane won't help with that...he think it might help me get out of the house more and walk abit more...so I'm thinking I might get one.  Also, he asked me about a stationary bike at home...I said I have one but can't use one..it's too difficult with this spells..the movement makes me feel ill... so he brought out a bike type thing you put on the floor in front of your chair and put your feet in it...then sit on your chair and spin you feet like a bike .. but your stable on a chair...he told me where to buy one too..so I'm going to get one of those too.. I go back next week and see him again.

take care everyone

Pred will give you a floppy heart valve, among other things. To be used as sparingly as possible.

I've got one of those bike things you describe under my desk. It works just fine! I ordered it through Amazon.

I injured my knee back in the era when Jimmy Carter was seeking the Dem nomination.  The ortho doc said he couldn't do a thing with it; there were no structural problems, only damaged nerves.  "Take two aspirin and call me in the morning."  Oh, skip the part after "aspirin."  Now the neuro guy put me on a drug that won't allow me to take but one regular strength aspirin per day.  Maybe if he ever does anything for my head, I'll talk to him about the nerves in my knee.

Wow! Doctors don't want you on Prednisone for a long time because of the nasty side affects - osteoporosis being one of them, and the weight gain from fluid retention is never pleasant. It does some other really nasty stuff long term, too, but I can't remember them right off the top of my head. I want to say it is bad for your heart? Someone will have more info I know!!

If I needed a walker, I would get one of those that has the seat, too. Some have baskets or bags attached which looks like it would be quite useful! I would love to see my mother in law use one since she is very tottery, but she says no. Getting her to use just a regular cane has been a struggle! She should probably even have a quad cane, but nothing doing. One of her peers will probably have to talk her into it!

I hope your shoulder feels better soon. I get bursitis in my hip from time to time. I injured it 13 years ago and it likes to remind me once in awhile! Perhaps physical therapy for the shoulder? That helped me a lot when I had problems with mine after a fall.
