Plegridy?

I had never heard of Plegridy until this morning. A Wall Street friend sent me some info he read this morning.

It looks like an extension of Avonex. It's interferon beta 1a compounded to dose every 2-4 weeks.

It looks like Biogen's going after the 'less often' gambit, possibly in light of some of the new orals making injectables a little less attractive to many people (though I know they have their own oral in the pipeline too).

Just last month my study nurse said that once the study I'm on goes to extension (also run by Biogen), I may be self-injecting the once monthly drug as well (as opposed to having it administered in hospital as per protocol at the moment). A possible new modality for us? The more the merrier, I say. If it's safe and effective, that is!

Shell, I thought it would be a newly-defined grounds for divorce, or perhaps require offenders to register their addresses with local law enforcement!

Reading the 1st sentence of your post from the main page this morning, I thought for certain you were going to tell us about some new schmancy breakfast called "plegridy" ....that is was decadent....provided energy all day long and reduced MS symptoms! lol

BUT, I'm still interested and will read up on the new formula and dosage!

Yes, Biogen's oral, Tecfidera aka BG-12, is slated for US FDA approval later this month. This new dosing for Avonex may be an effort to cut down on MS Market cannibalism as people shift from Biogen's Avonex to BG-12.
