fatigue and double vision?

My neuro has noted on my last two visits that I have mild nystagmus (leftward gaze) in my left eye.  I have noticed over the last few months that I have increased levels of double vision when fatigued and that it's more work to bring my gaze back in focus.  I feel like I'm fighting to keep my eyes on the same spot when I'm tired.

Does anyone else have this?

Stephanie

My eye problem is different but does occur with ever-lower levels of fatigue.

I get vertical ghosting (in both eyes separately--it's not a problem of the eyes working together) when I'm short only a couple hours sleep. It used to be when short a couple hours for two or three days in a row.

I have to squint hard in order to see when i have this ghosting. Ophthalmologist can't explain it. It also occurs when I'm NOT tired but have been reading for a couple minutes looking down.

Sorry Steph! How annoying to not be able to see properly.

Stephanie,  I am really glad that you brought this up.  I keep thinking that it's just nothing---like Frank says, I think 'well maybe my meds are wrong'.  Even though I have been on the same meds for a long time.

Is this something that gets worse and becomes permanent nystagmus?

Yes.  Been experiencing this for years.  I especially hate the spinning feeling, like I'm drunk.  And...well...Hmmm...let me see...I have MS, I forget things,...Hey!   Mabye I am drunk.  I thought this is the AA forum.

No, no, I really have been experiencing what you describe.  More intense when I am tired/overheated.

Hi Stephanie,  That really does sound scary!  Have you called your neuro to let him know you are having this more often?  Probably a good idea.  Maybe he can increase your medicine or something.

I just started having this happen at night when I am really tired.  They go double and then I keep trying to straighten them out but I can't.  It's only happened like 3 times for me though and no nystagmus.

It feels like I can't control my eyes---you know where they should go.  I think in my case it's just because I'm tired and it does go away.
