New issue 2 weeks after solumedrol

Hey all,
I am 2 weeks post solumedrol for retrobulbar neuritis, it cleared up well, but this weekend I think I started experiencing the ms hug...
I feel like someone is squeezing me very tight around the chest making breathing more difficult and very painful.. Could this new problem occur so soon after steroids ?? The hug has never been one if my ms issues.

Thanks
Isabel

Hi Britinusa,

Unfortunately Steroids only help symptoms to dissipate faster, and then only in some cases. See, by the time we are given steroids, the damage has been done. Sometimes you don't feel the effects of the damage right away, but it has been done.

I started my exacerbation in April of this year and immediately got on Solu-Medrol. I took the Solu-Medrol for 6 days at maximum dosage and tapered off with Prednisone. While my Optic Neuritis went away after only a couple of weeks or so, I soon had a Trigeminal Neuralgia attack. This only happened once, thank God, but a few days later, I began to experience difficulty walking.

I still have difficulty walking, some days good, some days really bad, but the other symptoms have vanished. I'm not trying to be discouraging or anything, I just want to let you know that it is perfectly normal to experience new symptoms even after taking steroids.
