Not sure what to do anymore.

I had a work injury in October. I was first diagnosed with DeQuervain's and then they added carpal tunnel.  I have severe pain in my wrists, forearms, thumbs and my 3 middle fingers go numb and tingle constantly. Not to mention all the other symptoms that coincide with carpal tunnel syndrome. I have had an EMG 2 months ago with "No significant damage", back and hand x-rays with minor arthritis that does not affect my symptoms. Doctor has given me anti-inflammatory pills and gel to rub on areas. Because I was not getting "better" the doctor started drawing blood & running tests with no real problems that could be part of the problem. I have to wear hand splints to minimize my movements and do basic stretches that the therapist recommended.
I feel the doctor has given up on me in my opinion and had sent me back to work with restrictions of not flexing my wrists. The job required that and I am back to square one and back off work. :( The EMG was from the elbow down.
Is there a different test that can be done to prove that I have "significant damage" to what I feel is my nerves & tendons? I do not get to go to the hand specialist until February 5th and really do not want to wait that long for answers and relief. HELP!

Hi NAS -  Welcome to the group.

I agree with Alex that what you describe doesn't make me think MS. You mention a work injury. I was unable to tell if your symptoms occurred after the injury, or if they were around before it.

We are a pretty targeted group. All MS all the time :-) You might try posting your question in the MedHelp Carpal Tunnel Syndrome forum. You may get better answers there. Here's a link to the CTS forum.

I do not think you have to worry about MS.I do not know about DeQuervian.s. Carpal tunnel can be painful and debilitating. MS does not effect tendons and is not on both sides of the body usually. It usually starts with the eye or one side of the body. If you are waiting for a specialist it takes months.I know you are in pain and worried. Many of us have been there.
