Numbness, weakness, headaches, in half of body?

I'm 31, female, and for about a month now I've been experiencing episodes of numbness and weakness on my right side of body from my face to my toes.  Sometimes, but not every time, I get a really bad headache on the left side, prior and/or nausea too.  I ended up in two different ER's with the first 2 (happened in 2 diff towns).  The last episode was yesterday.  Today I'm fine, except right side feels a little heavy esp. arm, just a little numbness.  I almost always am colder on my right side, esp. arm.  After my hysterectomy last year, I've been experiencing mood swings, ty mother nature.  My Gyno put me on Paxil the month prior to all this (I also take Estradiol 1mg/1x daily).  The first Doc said no more Paxil ,prescribed Benztropine 1mg/2x day, stating this was all adverse effects from Paxil, even though I'd been taking for a month already.  (also-gave me Cogentin and Ativan while there)  2nd Episode, Doc ordered Cat scan, then perscribed Diphenhydramine 25mg, and Metoclopramide 10mg, both=1 every 6hr as needed.  He also referred me to a Neurologist, but did say there were no signs of a stroke.  Neurologist would not accept ER referral, so I'm waiting on appt. with Family Doc for one.  In the meantime, I have 2 new symptoms: I'll say things backwards, or forget what I'm talking about mid sentence.  A few times a day, the middle of my back, right directly over the spine will get tingly, then numb.  I've heard a lot of different explanations, possible causes, and possibilities.  I'm worried about everything from MS, my spine, or something in my brain.  Has this happened to anyone else, and what do I do?

Hi I'm Jo, 41, married mum of 2. I went to Doctors this morning with; numbness in feet, left leg, hands and arms. Waking with headaches and a feeling of constant hang overs, feeling dizzy and sick. Weakness in every muscle in my body including my bladder. Loose bowels. Lack of sleep due to aching arms. Constantly tired for no reason and sleep does not make this better. Cannot bend forward as strength in back muscle has gone. Unable to ride my bicycle as I break out in a sweat with the effort. Feel the cold more than anyone around me and likewise with the warmth. I too say words backwards and have forgotten the sentence I was finishing, my memory is terrible, I wrote a list of my problems and took it with me. Told me I need a blood test as usual checks were ok. I have increased my fluid intake and cut out refined sugars/rice/ potatoes etc. It is effecting my home and work life as I just want to sleep or sit, it is slowly depressing me. I hope you get sorted, I'll keep a look out. Jo

Hi VeryConcerned and welcome to the MS forum.  We have lots of experienced people whoere who may be able to spot something of help to you in your writeup.

I am very surprised that a doctor would not takea referral from an ER doctor - that is really odd to me.
None of us are doctors here, except for Quix (she's retired pediatrician!) so we can't speak specifically to your complaints. It sound so split right now - something mechanical (spinal probably) versus something neurological  I wouldn't even want to venture a guess.

It is quite possible that your speech and memory are being affected by the stress you are feeling right now, worrying about what disease has hit you.  If you want to know more about MS I would recommend you read our health pages- yellow icon, top right side of this page.  They are full of everything you need to know as this journey begins.

I hope you will come through often to question, vent and learn more.

My best,
Lulu
