OOPS...forgot the really good news!

While I was in Newfoundland, the response I had been waiting for from the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) arrived.  I have been approved for the Canadian Disability Tax Credit and what a program they have going!  I will receive the tax credit from 2006 when my disease reared it's ugly head and took a huge bite out of my life!  I also found out about a Registered Disability Savings Plan that really is too good to be true.  The government will match amounts that you deposit in the RDSP and they will give you a Canada Savings Bond as well.  The interest rates on these amounts are much better than a GIC and it really is worth looking into if you live in Canada.  You have to have your doc fill out a form and it takes a while to hear from them but I figure close to $10 grand in adjustments is so worth it!  If anyone here in Canada wants to know more about this you can contact the CRA and they will tell you the forms etc. that you will need.

Lots of Hugs,\

Good for you Rena! I also was approved for the tax credit starting in the 2009 tax year.

It is a great help financially, and makes a huge difference come tax time.

I still feel broke all the time.....but a little less broke thanks to this tax credit.

I'm not currently in a position to take advantage of the disability savings plan, but I understand it can be a good deal, especially for the younger folks.

I'm glad you had a good time in Newfoundland! It's always fun to catch up with old friends, even if they talk funny ;)

Sleep well

Mike
