I've been taking it for for almost two months. I feel like my legs just feel better, stronger than they did without it.

First country to call it "Vampyra" wins IMO. I know there are a couple people around here who have had some success with it...
Good luck, wobbly. I hope you find yourself to be one of the 40% :)
thanks for your replies, I will look into this abit more and talk to another Dr about trying it for a month? I will watch for side effects, but if it helps at all with my walking, which has really declined in the past few months.
I really need to try something, it's getting to the point I can't deal with this .... I'm so frustrated... sorry.
thanks again everyone

Wobbly, it is marketed as Ampyra in the United States and as Fampyra in the UK and must be that also in Canada. It is the same drug - it is a time-released version of the compounded drug 4AP. There is a difference in the delivery.
About 40% of people have good luck on the Ampyra, while others don't find a noticeable difference in walking. They are also looking at the effect it has on heat sensitive, cognitive function and optic neuritis.
We've kicked Ampyra and 4AP around here quite a bit - if you search the community you will find lots more.
I did the 60 day trial and did not feel that it helped me. My timed walking test only improved 1/2 second. So neuro and I agreed to take me off of it. I have been off for about a week and have noticed a significant decline in my gait, so now I'm thinking maybe it did help. Can't get back into the neuro until the end of sept. to try to get back on.
This drug only works in about 40% of the patients that try it, so be hope for the best, but be ready for the worst.
Good luck!
I am a hopeless opptimist so I tend to give meds way too long a time to see if they are working. I have been on Ampyra for a year now. At first it helped a little bit as my walking speed improved slightly, but after some major flare ups, my speed and stamina have greatly declined. At this point the Ampyra was no help at all. I have recently discontinued taking Ampyra.
I hope you have better luck :)

Wobbly,
I'm going to go with what I believed you meant to was Amprya, I've been on for little over six months. Does it really help, to some extent, the biggest thing I've notice is the relief of heaviness in my right foot, which suffers from drop foot. But as far as really helping with walking and better or being able to walk any longer distance, no real difference.
Hope this helps,
Norman
