Hey Bob, I have missed you, glad your back . Thanks for your info. When my neuro was rumaging back and forth through my paperwork, you could see the confusion in is face. He especially looked confused when he asked me if I get back pain and I told him that every morning I cannot bend my neck forward because the pain goes down to my butt.
He took one more look at my MRI's and then said he wants an EMG done.
I thought for sure he was going to mention MS but i think he is more afraid of the word than I am.
At least I am aware now what the reason for this test is. Thanks, Pam
EMG/NCS is more of a "rule out test" in terms of MS. When they did the one on my left arm, it showed carpel tunnel (median nerve impingement at the wrist,) but my complaint was a burning pain in my 4th and 5th digit and ulnar surface of my arm. So the test found something, but what it found was not the cause of my pain. Since my ulnar nerve tested fine and there were no abnormalities back to the nerve root at the spine, they determined that the pain in my arm was not due to peripheral damage. It pointed to a CNS cause.
