Hi everyone, hope everyone is having a good day!!!!! I think I get the hug tooo!!!! Yeah!!! Question: is the hug a symptom of anything other Than the ms hug??? I've had the lower back ache intermittantly for at least 5 years, not the kidneys!!! But this is different, it starts at the waist in my back near my spine and it comes in waves with different intensities from pain scale 5-7....it sometimes creeps around to the front, it's always both sides... Then it feels like it's in my abs... Sometimes it feels like I've over excercised my middle!!!! Ouch!!! It also can go down my butt almost as far as between my cheeks!!! Also it can go up my middle back!!! I jokingly tell my girls "Squeeeeeze, I'm getting Squeeeezex!" it can last for 10 minutes or through the day!!! Sometimes if I lay on my side it happens or if my boyfriend puts his arm over my waist, makes it hard to cuddle at bed time! If he puts his Arm or even hand on my back it will bring it on too!!! If when I sit upright in a chair or drive that can bring it on too!!! Arrrggghhh!!! SQueeeeeeeZe!!! Does anyones feel Ike that???? I just wish we could all feel better!!!! I really love being here with all of you!!!! Kathy I hope you feel better Hun!!!!
The MS hug is spasms of the area between the rib cage. " What Does It Feel Like?
Like many MS symptoms, the “MS hug” feels different for different people – it also feels different in the same people on different days or at different times of day. It can be:
As low as the waist or as high as the chest; rarely it can be felt as high as the shoulders and neck.
Focused in one small area (usually on one side or in the back) or go all the way around the torso.
Worse when fatigued or stressed.
Present in “waves” lasting seconds, minutes or hours or can be steady for longer periods of time.
Described as sharp pain, dull pain, burning pain, tickling, tingling, a crushing or constricting sensation or intense pressure."
From what your describing, it could be the MS hug. As far as PT causing it, you have two options. You can get the MS hug due to fatigue and this would cause a pseudoexacerbation (temporary worsening of symptoms caused by an external factor, such as heat or fatigue). If you were fatigued after PT, this could be what happened, or this could be a real exacerbation, due to a spinal lesion, which is also causing your bladder and bowel symptoms.
If the problem persist after rest, then I would make an appointment with your neuro.
