Does anyone know if ON can start with brief moments of a large black dot in middle of vision field?

I have a black dot that flares in my right eye...  shows up as a black spot sometimes, and sometimes it looks like when you've stared at the sun too long.

I have ON and I get a black spot in my central vision, but it does not stay.

I noticed a spot today that was gray.

I also get some sort of weird pattern of dots.

It is worse on the days when I did not get enough sleep the night before.

Thanks, you guys are always so helpful.  I just had my eyes examined in January (w/no problems found) but maybe I should call for another appointment.  It happened when I became extremely numb on whole face and both arms.

Yes, I have one small black dot, that my Neuro and eye doctor said is remnants of my long ago bout with Optic Neuritis.
