It looks like possibly one of my audiitory/vestibular lab tests was abnormal, part of the Auditory Brainstem Response, I think. I'm hoping to pick up the report by next Friday, but may have to wait until I get back from Orlando, on the 15th. I don't see my oto-neurologist until June 23, so I may have to wait until then to get the full report on what any abnormalities might mean.
My testing took almost 3 hours, but the auditory specialist (can't remember the rest of her title) was great. We laughed a lot. She picked up on the fact that I had done lots of research, and talked straight with me, letting me ask if I needed clarification on anything.
I was doing pretty well, but some of those tests do scramble the brains a little, lol!
My hearing is excellent; she said I had the hearing of a 20 year old; not bad for someone fast approaching 47.
One part of the ABR she kept repeating, and said that she needed to make measurements and calculations of some sort, but her brow was furrowed.
When we got done with everything (we finished with the ENG, which well and truly scrambled my brain!), she said that everything looked good except that one thing, saying something about the long tones, and I'm sure that she was referring to the part of the ABR that she repeated several times.
The ABR was interesting; they put electrodes on the middle of my forehead, both sides of my neck, and on each side of where my collarbones meet. I had plugs in my ears, that blasted loud clicks as I raised my head so my muscles on either side of my neck were flexed. The part where she had to keep repeating was when the clicks were so fast that they sounded like an angry swarm from a sci-fi movie.
When I was doing that part, and for some minutes after, my head tremored back and forth like it did when I first woke up with the tremors that started me on this whole path through limboland.
I was pretty tired after all that , and rested most of the day. I was a good girl and did my vestibular rehab exercises last night, though!
Take care, everyone.
