Electric Toe

Among the myriad of Weird Things Happening With My Body Lately are toe issues. I've been getting lots of random buzzing/vibrating on them(reminds me of the bell that would ring between classes at school), and sometimes (at night, or while driving) I'll feel like small knives are stabbing through them, or an insect is stinging them. (good times!)

The last few days I've noticed that the big toe on my right foot is "electrified." Like, if I hit it a certain way when I walk or it bends up I get an electric charge running through that foot.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Wow, that's interesting. Besides the random buzzing and sharp "insect-bite" stabs in my feet/toes over the years, I used to frequently get a weird "numbish" sensation in the top of my foot running from big toe to near the ankle just from raising my foot upward.

I often get unprovoked "double electric shocks" in one foot (the arch, big toe or top of foot) and simultaneously in the upper leg, groin, or ribcage on the same side.

And if I push just right on the top of my left big toe (especially with a fingernail or my other toenail), I get an electric shock a couple inches "long" in a particular spot just above my left elbow and the same "two-inch-long" shock on top of my left hand, kind of between the thumb and wrist. Those left-arm shocks triggered by pushing on the big toe always occur exactly the same way.

When I saw the podiatrist recently about my painful toes (arthritis in the joints), he was completely stumped when I described those shocks. Weird stuff indeed.

Thanks, Annonnymouse. It's always less lonely when someone else shares a symptom.

Although I don't think I've got mine down to a science yet, LOL.

Actually, I recognise the sensation as similar to a TENS machine turned up to the highest setting. I can slowly point my toe and feel the sensation start to prickle, then as I increase the stretch it's like turning up the TENS machine.

This is one of my symptoms! With my left foot, if I point my toes while my leg is straight, I feel like I'e been electrocuted with a burning prickly zap that goes from the big toe and up the top of my foot to my ankle. I can also recreate the sensation by stroking the top of that foot.

With my right foot, the trigger movement is straightening the leg and turning the sole of my foot sideways so it's facing inward slightly, and this will cause the same electric zapping, but this time the pain is on the right side of that foot from my little toe to my ankle.

And I get it in one knee as well if I kneel on it a certain way.

I have learned very quickly not to do the trigger movements, although sometimes I'm still caught out.
