Recurrent yeast infections anyone?????

I know that bowel and bladder symptoms are fairly common but any of you females have trouble with recurrent yeast infections??  I've never had a problem with this until last March.  Now it is one after another with a max of 2 weeks between.  I've been on Diflucan more times than I can count, including 1x/week for 2 months.  Worked great while on it, once off, back to the same problem.  I've been doing the yogurt thing and even tried the capsules that are supposed to contain the good bacteria.  I feel like my immune system is so run down that I'm a perfect target for mean opportunistic infections.  Anyone else????????

MS is not a systemic infection of any kind. It is limited to the central nervous system, does not affect the body as a whole, and has nothing to do with yeast.

I think that yeast infections and ms are one in the same. I think that ms is a yeast infection that has become
Systemic. In other words ms is a yeast infection that has spread outside the stomach.

Wow... I have had either recurrent yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis ( ewwww) since all my symptoms started PLUS a forever UTI (per my kidney dr).. I'm still trying to get a dx but this is crazy that I just connected the dots... through my timeline...
Could it all be related?

I honestly think that MS could be causing yeast infections. My whole life has changed and I continue to have yeast infections coming back every couple of weeks. Please everyone ask your doctor to check for MS. This can be causing your yeast infections to come back.

on a totally different tangent for those looking for alternative solutions...have you thought about switching your brand of toilet paper?  my mum suffers from chronic yeast infections also and has definitely noticed the softer/flakier the tissue is the more she suffers.

stay away from "cashmere" and try ones that are more sturdy or paper towel like, usually cheaper less comfortable brands.

she swears by this.

I cant believe that this could actually be ms related, I have been dealing with a recurrect yeast infection for 3 months now. I have taken those inserts as well, it would go away and then bam, its back again. I told my husband, 2 months ago, " well, I think its gone" and then we would be intimate and OMG its back again. I kept saying if the treatment doesn't work this time, I will see the doc. But each time , I thought it went away, 1 week later it came back. I am just as frustrated!!!  I will be calling the doc. this morning to get an appt. to get this taken care of once and for all.
I have never had this many for soooooo long in my life. I would have never thought that ms could have an impact on yeast !!  LOL

Hugs, Pamela :)

Just a quick suggestion for anyone wanting to try something different.  I am always open to alternative medicine and reasonable willing to try anything if I can find sufficeint evidence that its has worked for others.

Earlier in the year I had recurrent ongoing severe headaches which did not respond to anything and I generally felt very run down (OK this is normal with MS but I had no idea then that is what I had). So I went to a naturapath in Uk and she did various tests using kinaeseology (where she puts tiny glass vials representing hundreds of different food stuffs and other allergy related things such as moulds, cat hair, grasses etc). She also tested for candida and she said I was full of it in my stomach.

Now some people may be sceptical, but I took the supplements she suggested and went on the "candida diet" cutting out yeast for a month in my diet and all other food stuffs she suggested. I can honestly say that I felt a huge improvement in my health, my IBS also disappeared and has not returned since and at that time I felt more energised.

We are all different and make of it what you like, but you maybe interested to do your own research into this as there is bound to be info on the internet. Sometimes I think alternative ways of doing things make a real difference when conventional medicine appears not to work and at the end of the day if something works for you even if it is the placebo effect then that has to be a good thing.

Let me first say that i can't believe how many women on this site have this issue, and that i really thought i was the only one having these types of problems. Okay here we go

Im 24 years old and I have had reoccurring yeast infections for about 7 years. I find that it is mainly when i am sexual active on a consistent basis. I was currently tested for S.T.I's... everything was fine so im good there.

Literally have gave up EVERYTHING... NO THONGS!! NO BATHS!! DONT USE ANY TYPE OF PERFUME OR SOAP DOWN THERE!!! PEE EVERYTIME I HAVE SEX!!

What can i do ....

I just started seeing this guy and literally been talking to him for a month and have had 2 already !! i am desperate .. i will try anything you guys suggest!! Home remedies ... things you mit have heard about that help please

Ive tried the ovum's you put inside and the oral pill... it keeps coming back. Maybe not every 2 - 3 weeks all the time... but sometimes it will reoccur a month later......sometimes it is a couple of weeks

Just makes you feel like a dummie... like who wants to be with a women that cant even have sex on a regular basis. Please help me

This is fascinating to me - I'm in the "investigation" process with my illness right now, with symptoms presenting like MS, but recurrent yeast infections are among them, and I've been told by one of my dr.'s that they are (in the absence of other cristeria like pregnancy, diabetes, obesity, antibiotic use, etc.) auto-immune in nature. I've even found websites stating MS causes them.

To answer the question - I get 6-7 of these a year. I haven't found anything to eradicate them, but maybe I'll start iron supplements like saveone?

When my hemoglobin and ferritin levels were low I had this problem.  As soon as I began iron supplements and my levels increased the yeast infections went away.  I haven't had one in appx 9 months.  Yea!  The yeast in my body was so bad I had yeast in my mouth.  I didn't not know this could/is an indicator of anemia.

terry

PS Prior to that I was doing like you, diflucan, probiotics, anything I thought might help.

I have the same problem. I'm on Nystatin right now. I've been on Diflucan before for at least 2 years. Once I stop infection comes back worse than the previous time. I've been on a yest and sugar free diet. The minute I eat some brad I pay for it. My infection gets worse fast even if I'm on anti fungal meds. Saw a number of doctors, they think it's in my head. Try to go on the diet. If you have other solutions please let me know.
