Referral to Rheumy; can't find any info about him!

I got a call yesterday setting up an appointment with a rheumatologist that my neuro referred me to.  I can find his name on the OHSU website, but I can't find anything about his educational background , accreditation, or anything.

Should I see this guy and hope for the best, or what?  I asked that I be assigned to someone well versed in auto immune disorders, and the receptionist said that all their doctors are well versed in all the disorders.

I tried the Vitals site, the Rate MD site, just googled his name.  I found a guy with the same name in Bellingham (could be old listing), but it didn't list his educational background there, either.

Oh my, what to do.  Any ideas?

Well I checked the Oregon Medical Board, and there he was. (thanks again, Rendean!) He was born the same year as me, graduated from medical college in China in 1983, lists specialty as rheumatology, and is licensed from 7/14/08 - 12/31/09.

That's all I know; don't know what his education since 1983 has been, where he interned, or anything like that.  Kind of peculiar.

OK, he graduated from the medical college at age 21; does that mean he extremely intelligent? I certainly hope so!  I guess I'll find out next month!

I'd better update my Timeline and gather up my MRIs and such that he might be interested in.

Thank you, that is a great idea.  I didn't want to appear to be a nosy, difficult patient, but I do want to know something about a doctor I'm going to see.  Especially since he's out of network and my co-pays went up at the first of the year.

Terry, that was my last resort, so we can both be glad for Rendean's suggestion.  Cool!

Rendean that was a great idea!  I was going to suggest calling the hospital where he practices and asking.  I like your idea better.

Try looking on your state Medical Board site. They usually list the education and dates of graduation on there. My state, GA, lists their Board under the Secretary of State site but you can just google "State" Medical Board and find the website.
