Repost...right/left confusion

Hello again everyone, I am anxiously awaiting my appointment on Thursday.  I had something wierd happen to me about a week ago, and wanted to inquire whether or not this has actually ever happened to anyone WITH MS.
For about 20-30 minutes, I completely lost my ability to distinguish right from left.  Now this happens to everyone in quick instances Im sure, however this was very different and very disconcerting.
I was at the dentist, describing some jaw pain that I have, and I saw him writing R Jaw on the paper over and over.  I finally stopped him, and said that he was making a mistake.  Despite the fact that I was pointing to the Right, I was 100% sure it was my left.  I felt very embarassed, left the office and went outside, where i proceeded to try to figure this out.  I was staring down at my hands, saying right, left, right, left, however I soon realized I was wrong, as my wedding ring was tipping me off.  I was reversed still.  I got home, and my husband said raise your left hand, and again, I raised my right.  Hours later, I was no longer having this problem.  Whether or not this was some fluke, or related to WHATEVER is happening to my body, it was so eye opening and strange.  Just wondered if this is common or completely off in left field?

This sure sounds like a misfiring of the neurologic wiring but I'm not so sure it would be an MS symptom.  I'm sorry I haven't read any of your other posts so I don't know your back story.

Did the dentist find this strange and do a quick exam of you to make sure you were not experiencing something more serious, such as a stroke? If you don't have a doctor appointment scheduled for the near future, I would really recommend you at least see your primary care physician and be checked.

Sorry again that I haven't given you a proper welcome to the group here.  ~Laura

I actually have been having left / right confusion for a long time with my MS similar to what you have described. It isn't that I don't know left from right, just not which word it is that I need to use.

More than once when talking to a doctor about something when they ask which side the only way I can figure out which word to use is by making the movement of writing something can I figure out which word I need.

I've caught myself typing words with just the opposite keys, sometimes, when I get going really fast.  Lw ey oevkl rq swwdevh sedi ygel (So it winds up looking like this)!  Just plain weird.

Let us know how your appointment goes!
Cheers, and Welcome!

I've had similar symptoms. I'm learning to drive so it's horrible! My partner will tell me to move the car to the left and I insist I'm doing it when I'm actually moving right. Today's MRI showed I have an active lesion. I'm thinking it and other symptoms like aphasia or inverting two words like buffin mutter instead of muffin butter ...  no bueno.
