it takes so long to find any answers

it has been along road about two years ago i began feeling weakness and pain in my limbs,my balance sucked and the fatigue was painful...but trying to get the doctor's to listen  was frustrating,,first i was sent to a rumatologist,,,,,"you have Fiber Mialgia"and there is nothing we can do for you...i try to tell my doctor i don't think that's the right diagnosis ..my mother had MS I think it could be that ....we your Vitiman D is low that must be it....your iron is really low blood transfusions hysterectomy and now that they can no longer look at low iron as the cause of all my symptoms they have to deal with what i have continued to tell them. Now my balance is so bad i have been walking with a cane since the summer and had to leave work in may...the fatigue is painful.. i began having pain in my eye and blurred vision the emerge doctor says it;s neurological.. i close my eyes and i feel like i am on a roller coaster ..like i drank to much.i am now seeing an internal medicine mas   still do not have a neurolagist..but am finally going for and MRI this Sunday. than after the internal doctor looks over the MRI than he said we will look at referring you to a neurologist.oh yes and i haveersed in the desease. a foot that drags when i get to tired or over do it and my knees buckle when i tired and standing to long..i drop things and trip a lot.i have bad muscle spasms in my legs///i am 49 and yes this is old for ms  but the way i see it it started to be noticeable 2 years ago....i had a baby 7 years ago,,, my mothers was diagnosed when i was five..they say a baby can trigger or start the ball rolling in MS..i live in Winnipeg the MS capital of the world ...at this point i just want a confirmed diagnosis so i can move on with my live i al a single parent of three kids and this has been hard. if its ms which i believe it is than give me the meds and we will hopefully stop it where it is before it goes to far...but man getting doctors to listen is hard there are not enough fully versed in the condition  to make the process easier... sorry i am venting is there anyone else out there that has experienced or has a similar story?

Hi, and welcome to the forum.  You've come to the right place, there are wonderful people here and we share our frustrations, laughs and all the knowledge we can come up with.

As Laura says, the health pages here are great and we add to them as we can.  I'm sorry you are going through this, I know how hard it is just to be a single mom.  I was a single mom of a son & daughter for 6 yrs, thankfully my health didn't get bad until years later.

I'm sure you will know more after your MRI, and I do really hope that you get to a neuro soon.

We have some other Canadians here and hopefully they will pop in and welcome you too.  Rena, Mokibear and Doublevision are the first three that come to mind.

Just know you've found a place where people understand what you are going through and are here to support you.

Take care,
doni

Hi Sarcasam,
Welcome to our forum - it is a great place to vent stories such as yours.  I am so sorry you are being drug through this process of finding a diagnosis and treatment for you.

Age 49 is not too old to be dx'd - I just found out I have MS this year at the age of almost 54.  Several of our members here were even older when they were diagnosed.  Some day the medical community will recognize that MS has not age limits - it can become apparent at any age.

You probably know a lot about MS since your family has already been affected by it with your mom.  We have wonderful health pages here written by our members that may still be of use to you.

Do you have a MS clinic close to where you live?  I know those resources can be fairly scarce in some parts of Canada.

I hope you will visit here often and continue to share your story - together we all are stronger!

Be well,
Lulu
