Shadow sister update

Good evening all of you from DJ - shadowsister.  We had a long conversation last night and she asked that I relay her best to all of you.  She asked that I specifically tell you she feels your presence even though she is still unable to get on the computer and be here with us. She knows so many of you are with her on her journey and she appreciates that more than you perhaps know.

I had so wished that by now I would have an improved DJ story to share, but unfortunately it still hasn't happened.  She is in almost constant pain right now, the pump has been turned up regularly but the morphine is still not dulling the pain.  Her spinal spasms have been uncontrolled - and are especially vexing to her left side, before it was her right side. She is spending almost all of her time in her recliner - sitting in the wheelchair is only good for very brief periods of time. This keeps her away from the computer and explains her continued absence here.

Her doctor needs to perform another surgery to work on the pump but is afraid to put her under anesthesia again.  She is sleeping very little for that same reason - she is concerned to fall asleep because when she does and her body is relaxed, she goes into major spasms.  

  We talked about spring, and a much needed visit from her brother (he's coming Monday) - both of which give her pleasure.  DJ continues to be her own spirited and  encouraging self,  despite her problems.

This MonSter is so unleashed in her body right now, and DJ is fighting her best to not let it win. Whatever faith or beliefs you hold, please take a moment to think of her and hold her close.

Erin,
You better not stop making fun because DJ sure does.  She hasn't lost her sense of humor through all of this and you better not use her as an excuse either! :-)

  Thanks for keeping us posted. I was feeling sorry for myself for the same old **** and then I read your post and am humble.

My energy and prayers for the rest of this night are not for me they are for DJ and her family.

Off to bed because I can't make fun of weenie doctors now that I know what true pain feels like this weekend.

I won't have to give her your messages - I know when she gets to being able to check, she will find this post and respond.  She managed a few minutes the last time and I bet she does so again.

Thank you Lu, for updating us.

I too thought this last procedure would of helped.  I'm so glad she feels us, it's all we can do, but I sure wish we could do more.

So glad you talked to her.  I'm sure it was a bright spot in her day.

I had also hoped DJ would be doing so much better by now.  I think we were all hopeful, but her body just won't cut her a break.  I can't imagine how hard all this has been for her, but fortunately she was a loving and caring family  to help her get through this - AND she has us of course.

Please send our love and care for her when you talk with her next time.
