need advice, quick, please!

I'm in the middle of a prednisone taper for a suspected mS attack (vertigo, which is mostly better)

I've been feeling a bit 'off" today, but nothing I can really pin down. I was a bit unsteady/ unbalanced feeling this morning, but even that wasn't too bad. I had to go out, with my younger 3, my 3 year old has an ear infection and I had to take him to be seen then to the store to get the prescription & some groceries.

Once the day went on I started feeling better and just assumed i was tired this morning.

About an hour ago I ate lunch, just a normal one nothing fancy. About 30 minutes ago I started feeling yucky, like I had eaten too much or something. My stomach gets a bit "touchy" sometimes, so i figured I'd just go to the bathroom.  (Sorry if this is TMI!) i sat down to go, and my legs, from the knees down started tingling and buzzing really badly. Like electric shocks were running through my legs. It lasted about 5 minutes, then faded. I finished in the bathroom and figured that was weird but whatever it was was over.

Just a few minutes ago I went out on my front porch to talk to my sons speech teacher who had just arrived. My son is fast asleep on the couch and I wanted to see if she wanted me to wake him up or just cancel his speech for today. As I was talking to her i just got a very tired wave go over me, and I sat down on chair next to me. It is a bright sunny day, and suddenly everything had a greenish tinge/ look to it and everything was really really bright.

That, also, only lasted a few minutes. I think I'm fine now, but I feel a bit 'off" and tired, but nothing too bad.

I'm just not sure if these were just weird things, or if I over did it today? Or is something else going on?

I appreciate any thoughts you might have for me!

Glad you called the Neuro and got this charted :)
i know what you mean about the children and not understanding what's going on as they know that something is different about mommy.

The NMSS has a great book for children (free) that you can order on line or give them a call. it is very easy to understand, whith great pictures to go along w/ the wording.

i have always been taught / told/ learned  (psychology) that you only answer as much as they ask..No more, no less. I don't know if that help or not but coming from another mother (me) who has 5 children it has always worked.

i have to admit though I do fib just a bit when my little grandson (5yrs) calls me ready for me to come pick him up ...as he usually stays with me a couple days a week....and a lot of times i have to say "No, grandma can't come today"  His little voice comes back sying..."Why Nanna-Mamma are you sick again?"   i tell him.."no, I just stayed up to late..or..I have a dr appt (which I usually do).  Then he asks "you gonna get me tomorrow?"

That is the hard part to answer too becasue I don not know if i will be able to get him the next day... Hang in there Jess! You are doing an AWESOME job at keeping everything going even though you may not see it that way.

The big thing is what you already posted...PACE yourself!  I suspect that you will get some answers here in the near future.

It sounds as if you have a good support system (your hubby) and that makes a big difference. i know that Limbo is such an emotional turmoil to have to go through. i have you in thought and prayer everyday.

Hang tight and everythings gonna be alright my Friend.......
oh my Gosh, that reminds me of a video made by a lady who was going through the dx process for MS and that song is playing in  the background and has pics and words of her childrena and all....It is really Good.....Has anyone else seen it and can put it  up here for Jess to click on??? I will try and find it  ;)

Big Hugs to you Jess>>>

Evening Tonya :-)

I did call the neuro, but I just left a message with the receptionist and asked her to just put it in my files. I'm a chicken LOL I just really didn't want to have to go into the office again!

Today I've been ok. I was able to do my normal routine, I just did it all a bit slower.

I feel bad, because without a diagnosis we kind of can't tell the kids much. They know I'm not feeling well, and they know about the steroids and all that, but we haven't talked about MS with them, mostly the older 3. But, the younger 3 go to pretty much all my appointments, so i know my 5 year old daughter has picked up some things. Today before she got on the bus for pre-K she pointed to the bruises on my arm from the IV and asked "Is that from your MS?" I told her it was from the medicine I got at the doctors last week. And, my 3 year old asks me a lot of i'm going to take a nap, or if I'm still sick. He's got an ear infection right now, so i told him that mama is taking medicine to get healthy again just like he's taking medicine for his boo-boo ear. It is hard to not be able to give the kids any answers.

Anyway, sorry to go off on a bit of a vent there!

How have you been feeling/ Is the TN any better at all?

Good morning Tonya!

Yes, the leg thing happened while I was sitting, but not right after I sat down. I did not try to stand up until it faded, I really wasn't sure if I could stand, my legs were that bad. It was both legs, but I think slightly more on the right one.

With the vision thing, I don't think my eyes were adjusting. I had been outside for a few minutes already and was ok. It was just a sudden wave of exhaustion, then everything was bright and greenish. I sat on a chair and again, it passed in about 5 minutes.

The rest of the night I think I was ok. Slightly tired (where, oh where is this steroid energy?!?LOL). My muscles felt heavy, mostly my right side, and sometimes my arm/hand would get tingly.

I'm going to call my neuro a bit later this afternoon. I'm hoping he wont want to see me, I'm just too tired to gather up the little ones and go into see him again. I'm going to just ask that they make a note on my records. Unless the doctor feels it is important enough to see me about.

Thanks for the hugs :-)

hi there. So sorry you are feeling so bad and continue to have strange things creeping up on you. This is so confusing and miserable not knowing what exactly is going on (hince..Limbo - Land).

Becasue of the way you described your sx and what you were doing (went to sit) it seems as though something is going on in the Spinal Cord.......Perhaps it could be in fact a pinched nerve or something of that nature....Just thinking out loud.

It happened when you sat down (Bi -laterally)..only lasted for about 5 minutes,  then went away. Now did it go away because you stood up??? I have no idea!  (sorry)

I have a question for you though and for anyone who is reading your post...this is on your behalf  :)       Could this be a L'Hermitte's thing?? Just wondering??

As for the vision part of your question.........I have no clue, i have a guess and that is because you went from inside to outside and as you ssaid it was a nice sunny day out...Perhaps your vision was trying to adjust??  Again just a thought   :)

Jess, I am sorry that I do not have more answers or ideas for you.
Have you called your Neuro Today??  If not..Please call tomorrow ok?  He will probably want to add this to your chart..

Hugs to you,
~Tonya
ps....How are you feeling this evening?

Thanks Shell!

I just had a banana and some water for snack :-)

I'll just assume I overdid it a bit today and try to take it easy for the next little bit. Of course I say this after I made the cream cheese pound cake for tonights dessert LOL Strawberry shortcakes aren't going to make themselves :-P

I keep hoping I'll get this prednisone energy thing I keep hearing about. So far I'm either feeling normal, or tired. Not one bit of extra energy, and when the tired hits it sure does hit.

Thanks for the help!

sorry meant, "don't" lose too much salt, potas, etc.

Hey Jess -

I just don't know, but do take it easy - that prednisone gives you energy too (easy to overdue it) and watch your water intake. Keep it coming, but not "over" coming so that you lose too much salt and potassium, etc. I'm hoping it's just a small glitch from the pred.

My eyes got a little nutty when on it. Call Dr. to be sure if it keeps happening.

Wish I could help more....
