Speaking of O.N.

There have been a lot of questions and posts lately about Optic Neuritis, I have a few questions of my own. I had an MRI last week and am going in for an evoked potentials test tomorrow, for ON. I was wondering what ON feels like to some of you, as I am curious.

My symptoms really are noticeable when I get warmed up. To me, my eye feels like it is under some pressure. It hurts to move it back and forth, and I can not quiet look all the way to the left. Things don't go exactly blurry, but more of a yellow haze. It almost feels like I have sweat in my eye, that I cannot get out. Also, it just doesn't feel right, like something is off, I cannot put my finger on it.

Thanks for any input
Johnny

I know people who have had different symptoms with it, but as for me I had ON in my left eye only.  The pain was behind my eye and felt like brain freeze - when you eat ice cream too fast.   It hurt to move it from side to side as well.  My vision was blurry in that eye and when I got hot, like in the shower, my vision would even dim a bit.

So that is my experience with it.  I'm glad you went in for the MRI and the VEP.  If you do have ON, does the doctor plan to do steroids?  When was the last time you were on IV steroids?

Take care and good luck with the test.

Hey Johnny-

I have not been diagnosed with ON but then I don't think I was thoroughly tested for it either.  I was going to talk to my PCP about getting EP done also.

My experiences are quite similar to yours, including the feeling that something is off...and I have not been able to put my finger on it either.  So, if you figure that part out, please let me know!  lol

I have the pressure feeling and the pain in moving my eyes back and forth.  I do get blurry vision though...on top of double vision.  My vision is not yellowy, but I do have like a faded vision around the perimeter of my sight...if that makes sense.

Good luck with your EP tomorrow!
