I don't think we have met yet officially but I have watched your posts.
This one spurred me to answer as I so empathize. I woke up one morning not with total paralysis but unable to stand / walk. If I pushed my self and my husband pulled me up I could shuffle a few steps. Both of my legs, although the left was much worse, were just shaking and vibrating so bad, the knees felt really weird and spongy, and they just wouldn't hold me up.
I had no dx at that point and my gp treated me for overuse injury and a torn cartilage, everyone just looked at me kinda strange when I tried to describe the sensations. In April this year my breakthrough came when I described it to the neuro and he knew what I was describing. I finally got a dx in June.
I have never regained the strength and if I walk too far the left leg vibrates still. I just don't push myself. I was in a dark place for a very long time with it so I really feel for you.
Take others advice and look after yourself, my cure includes chocolate, not good when you need to lose weight but what the heck.
Take care
Pat

I have woken up and not been able to move my neck due to excruaciating pain, it is hard. I am sorry you are going through this, and I do hope it will get better and quick.
I will be thinking of you and saying a prayer...
Warmly,
Michelle
This is very sad Carol. I know the feeling only too well. Mine is slightly more gradual with the thumb and first two fingers but I've now lost the use of my left hand and fingers completely. Did it happen immediately - no!. I woke up one day with weakness which gradually progressed over 3 years.
Sometimes I look down at my hand and I cannot move it even a twitch, it's like my brain has frozen it. Often the hand is clenched like a fist and I have to physically open it up with the other hand. Other times I can move it very slightly. Can't hold on to anything - just slips out of the hand. Steroids did not help me either.
Hoping yours will improve - you never know with this disease - anything can happen.
Take care
Marcie
Hi
I think, if you can, try to do some physical therapy. even if it is at home.
I lost the use of both my hands and with a lot of hard work they came back to almost normal
I squezzed rice, picked up coins, rolled clay, and tried to color in a childs book
Try to do anything that will get your hand and fingers moving if you are not in pain.
I know how fruastraing it can be. All this did not help with me spelling, lol
Even if you have to rub your hand try it Best of Luck Linda
Hi
i am sorry too i woke with a numb patch that is steadily growing from a thumb nail to a dinner plate on my thigh buttock it hand been going to sleep or numb every night but sensation would always return one morning it decided not too and the skin around it thought it would join in been like that 3 mths now.
Its great seeing you on here. Could it be nerve damage from the fall maybe? i willpray for you. keep us posted? how long has it been like this? no carpol tunnel sydrome?

Oh, Carol, I am soooo sorry about the current loss of use of your hand. It's just one thing after another, isn't it. Still, I love to see you here and know my good friend is still with us! I have to second Kathy's recoomendation, but you know that I swear by ice cream.
When my problems first started 4 years ago, I woke up and couldn't lift my right leg off the floor more than a few inches. That never got better and has slowly worsened. That's only weakness, not paralysis, but it was sudden nonetheless.
We'll all pray with you and hope that you get enough strength back to keep posting - yeah, I know....selfish of me isn't it?
I so respect how you keep on keepin' on.
Love and hugs,
Mama Quix
I haven't experienced any paralysis, but I have woke up out of the blue with tremors that kept getting worse for three days, as well as fatigue like I've never experienced before. It's just so bizarre to have no warning.
I'm sorry that things are so tough right now; just remember that you are tough, too. Of course, you know that there's a whole passel of us here ready to help prop you up when things seem about ready to overwhelm you.
Since I have no experience with paralysis, the only suggestion I have is to eat some chocolate or frozen yogurt; they always make me feel better, ha ha ha!
Adding my prayers to yours,
Kathy
