Thank you all for your suggestions. I like the sandals that double as running shoes. I ALWAYS have cold feet so a moccasin type shoe with some tread would work.
I've found the gripping socks to be more bother than they're worth as my gait is off and they eventually slid down my leg onto my ankle and cause other problems.
I guess I'll have to go shopping since , like Lu said, the best of slippers are out now in anticipation for the holidays.
Thanks again,
Ren
I have these great slippers although not suitable for summer as they are very warm, but seeing as Autumn will soon be here I will be getting them out again. They have a warm thick outer covering and rubber soles just like shoes. Excellent for grip, even suitable for trotting to the shops late at night :-)
Good question Ren,
I lean towards bare feet or soft soled shoes that allow my foot to bend at will, due to the bounce in the arch of my feet. I did think i might of been doing it wrong by wearing shoes that enabled the bounce and tried hard soled shoes but hated it. Nothing worse than bouncing like Tigger and clopping heavy footed which makes me more like Tigger doing a tap dance lol.
I'm not sure i could mention any of the brands i've used, you probably dont have them over your way. I think i dont even use grippy shoes at all, i found i'd stick and trip more so flat smooth leather soled is what i grab more often than not.
Cheers...JJ
PS anytime you get sick of your hubby there are lots of jobs over here that need a perfectionist, who does finish what he started, does he need a holiday? lol
hi rendean i messaged you back about buying inside shoes. but later i was thinking about the post and remembering how much i hate to have shoes on seems my feet just get warm and tingle. but what about those new type of sandals that look like running shoe bottoms but have all the spaces between the material?they look like sandals but are like a running shoe.
Be careful Ren. I like the idea about getting new nonskid shoes and only wearing them inside.

There are some floors that are just slicker than others. I have a little patch of linoleum in our basement red room that will send me sliding every time I step on it. Its as if someone greased it ....
The holiday season is the best time to find the slippers with rubber/plastic soles. When you find a pair or two that you like, buy several because once Christmas is done the slippers disappear. I'm not talking about slides - but honest to goodness slippers that are shaped like shoes.
These are the next best thing to being barefoot in comfort - but you have some other good suggestions here, too.
Good luck in staying upright!
Lulu
Except for the bath we are all carpet. I tend to catch my toes on it and trip. Are hard wood floors slippery? Or do you have area rugs? Tisk, tisk if so. I need help defining the problem too.

I do not know if they are to slippery but I where crocs.
hi, Ren. I'm not sure of the features you want, but I do know that Vibram shoes are getting a lot of hype, and they're even being counterfeited like crazy. They're pretty weird looking, and have separate compartments for each toe. 'Gloves for feet,'and supposedly good for athletes.
You could check the many google reviews to find out what's what.
Are you trying not to slip, so need certain kinds of tread? I'd like to hear what you tthink.

Hi Ren,
How about those thick warm socks that have rubber-like grips on the bottom, usually in the form of a design, like fish or animal paw prints and the like?
I really like hardwood floors, but I think us having wall to wall carpeting in our house has saved me from slipping and falling many times.
I go barefoot in the house all summer, and wear what my wife calls 'old man slippers' (if the shoe fits...) the rest of the year, plaid, solid shoe-like sole with good traction, very stylish.
Take care
Mike
I am with you as far as not liking to wear shoes. They do make doctor scholls slippers that work well, but I prefer to wear the socks with the skid proof sole, lol I know its not a fashion statement but it keeps me from sliding in the kitchen and bathroom.
Not sure what kind of help I have been lol but I thought I would share what I use.
Take Care
Paula
why dont you just buy a cheap pair of comfy shoes and keep them just to where inside.
