Yes just for the infusions I have crappy veins and it was getting difficult to start a line
Do you have a port in place just for Tysabri infusions?
i had a central line for chemo so the access was outside my chest. When I first got it the skin etc was still healing and it was painful. After it healed and the stitches were out it didn't bother me that much. The procedure to insert it sucked since all they gave me was a local. Removal was also not a walk in the park since they basically just snipped it and yanked it out (in the operating room just in case) I was kind of shocked how long it was!
I've not had one and had never thought of it hurting ... I was thinking just the opposite.
It gets better. I have had mine since May and lots of accesses due to my cancer. Use the lidicaine an hour before and put plastic wrap over it. Tell the nurse it hurt. It can make a difference how they do it. I have had nurses harpoon me and others do it so well I never felt it. I use hypnosis to relax and it makes it easier.

Kat,
It DOES get better. The skin will slowly toughen up and each stick is less painful. Hang in there!

It should not hurt to have blood drawn or infusions in
