What are the very first symptoms you remember of MS?

I need help, and am uninsured so I figured I would ask what did you initially feel symptom wise for MS? I found this site because I did a search for wet chin sensation. I also have trouble standing balanced when my eyes are closed. I have to hold on to something during prayer at church. My family has immune disorders, mixed connective tissue disorder, and I have a cousin that died of MS. Thanks for your help.

Foot drop was my first sx but everyone including Doctors blamed it on ankle and foot damage due to fall -  This was more than 10 years ago -  Took a very astute ortho to finally see I needed to see a neuro!

my first symptom, more than 20 years ago, was loss of feeling in my legs. It started in my feet and worked its way to just below my knees, on both sides. It went before they could figure it out so I left it alone. Little did I know... :-)

First symptoms are still with me today plus a few extra for good measure.
Numbness, tingling, on off L'hermittes sign, ms hug and the only visible one to the outside world - leg weakness.

Of course the normal battle with fatigue, memory, expression.

The great news is the bladder and bowel went away and never came back!

Could be worse.
Blessings

Bugger!

Dianna, you just reminded me, episodes of blurred vision was possibly my first, they never did know what was causing it, it always went away, said i must read too much lol that was back in my late 20's. Coincidence is doubtfull, it reoccured then went away, didn't go perminently double until some 15 odd years later lol i had a few weeks back in 08 when it was double like it is now, but it went away and i just though i must of had a bad bug.

Its never been normal since my big bang so the possibility that sight was the first is definitely there for me too, i keep forgetting lol i'll just add it to my forgotten list, ohhhhh its getting longer lol

cheers.............JJ

When you guys say sensory, what does that entails?
pins and needles? numbness? tingling?
how long do these symptoms last? minutes? all day long?
do they come and go? or persistent

Almost all, including my first symptoms were/are visual in nature (diplopia). And although I didn't realize it until my neuro administered that little pseudo-sobriety test, I had/have balance issues as well.

My first symptoms were sensory. A lot of stuff I ignored because I just "didn't realize" what was going on at the time. Things change, though!

My earliest symptoms were also sensory in nature.  I blew them off, because they were pretty lightweight in my opinion.  These started in my teens.  I was diagnosed at age 50.

Oh, BTW, Welcome!  Have a look at the Health Pages (links on right side of page), while you're here.

Being uninsured in the US of A stinks, but if things get serious enough for you, your state will be able to help.
