What the heck is that eye test thingy?

OK, brain totally fried.  I would have searched for the info but I can't think of what to search for.

I had eye pain when moving my eyes (severe), and blurry vision and all that with an attack a year ago.  This was all dismissed back then.

I remember on here that there's a test the do at the basic eye dr. the one past optometrist.  But it can only detect a certain amount of ON - it misses lots.

Then someone talked about a test they can do to see if you had ON in the past.

Am I remembering anything or making it up! LOL!  Right now my brain is so not working.  Anyways, I would like to ask my neuro for a  test if there is one.

Any Canadian input would be great too, cause I think there's different testing up here.

Thanks, sorry for the badly thought out post - I just can't think right now.

Thanks for your reply.

Can either of these tell if you had ON in the past?  Or does it just look for current problems?

The VEP or Visual Evoked Potential (or VER for Response) is the one where you have electrodes on your scalp and you stare at a checkerboard pattern that keeps switching the black and white squares.  It records how well the thing you are seeing travels to the visual center in the back of your brain, whether the signal is complete but delayed, or whether it is misshapen.

The OCT or Optical Coherence Tomography is the test where you look into a machine and it scans to measure the thickness of your retina and optic nerve.

One of those?
