Why does it hurt so?

My hands and feet are becoming so painful... I can usually deal with pain, but this has me bent over and tossing in bed at night.

This pain is waving in now with a flair that is going on 2 weeks. Please... is this the norm? I've had a change in gait now for two weeks and I first thought the foot pain was because I was walking so oddly, dragging the left foot and leg and sliding the right but now that has eased a bit and I'm back to a shuffle and the pain is getting stronger- I wake up at night and want to cry from it.

I've already had tests for RA and Lupus last fall, when I had a bought of joint pain. Am I to suppose this is part of a probable MS diagnosis?

Thanks for the support.

thanks, I will check out the spray or roll on... that was really helpful! I'm hoping it will dull the sharpness of the pain.

The inactive ingredients that they do have is
FD&C blue #1 and Yellow #5

That is on the gel.

The spray has no added color and they also have a role on that is not colored also.

Here is a little info off of there website:

The Cryospray™ is the newest way to create a no touch method of application for Biofreeze®. Even though Biofreeze® through any of the applications methods is beneficial for acute pain, the spray is particularly beneficial for acute conditions involving severe muscle spasms of the lower back or acute spasms of the upper back or neck. The application can be applied pre-treatment to acute areas of muscle spasms to allow for a faster relaxation of muscle involvement and better treatment response.

I have tried many of things prior to this that have not worked or felt and smelled awful.  My Mom found this about 7years ago.  I ordered some and have used it ever since. Prior to my symptoms that started this past Feb.  The biofreeze always seemed to work.  But my currents symptoms biofreeze is the only temporary relief I have found all though it doesn't always work.

Hope the added info helps,
Aura

Sounds similar to what the rheumy prescribed in the fall for the joint pain (this is different). However, that didn't work too good and was expensive and greasy. Not fun.

Does it contain anything similar to Blue, Red or Yellow dyes on the ingredients? Thanks,

About Biofreeze.... you pretty much have to order it, not unless you can find a Physical Therapy or Chiropractors that sales it.

Now it is grease less, stainless, and the scent it brief and goes away.  The gel is colored blue.  They also have a spray made of Natural Extracts and Essential oils with no color added.  The spray works well.  It seems as if the gel is a little deeper penetrating.  If you need me to I will post the ingredients to see if it is something you can use.

I just googled the name when I purchased it.  You can't buy it direct but there is several retailers out there that do sale it.

Hope this help,
Aura

slightlybroken.... My mom was upset that they wouldn't see me sooner, as we know they can. They got me in for an appt. in a week the first time.

Why would the heat make it worse? Perhaps like I feel worse after a hot shower or hot temps?

As far as ibuprofen, I try to stay away from it and use tylenol but that's not helping right now. I have stomach issues, so I do have to be careful I've found.

Aura... were do you find biofreeze? Regular drug stores or Walmart? Is is colored? I'm allergic to dyes. :) I'll look for it next time I'm in the store.

Thanks!

I wish you were feeling better :)

I my self am always wondering if ...
"Do you call the Neuro or not?"
Mostly mine just notes everything down.

I have a burning sensation in my right thigh that keeps me up at night as well as wakes me up.  It is painful!! At times it radiates down to my right foot.

I also have had joint pain in the past with a high RH factor but no diagnoses for RA.

I am in limboland.

Have you tried biofreeze?  it is a topical gel that helps sometimes with my symptoms temporally.  But as we all know temporary relief is better than non.

I wish you well and hope you come to the bottom of this!!

Praying for you,
Aura

I can't think of any OTC drugs that might help except for ibuprofen but I'm not sure if that would do the trick. Watch out taking ibuprofen especially if you have stomach issues (ulcers, heartburn, gerd) because it can cause stomach upset and bleeding if you have an ulcer. Ibuprofen helps with inflammation and pain. What have tried so far?

I wouldn't try heat..it might make it worse. I can't believe they just want you to "make do and handle it"! There is a lot of prescription medications out there that they should try to get rid of your pain. They should NOT let you suffer until June 30th. Call your GP if you have to and try to see if they can help. June 30th is a long time to wait and be in pain.

Hi,
I called my neuro at the beginning of my flair and they weren't very cooperative, they simply said that I needed to "make do and handle it" concerning my flair symptoms until I can come in on June 30th (they did nicely move it up 30 days).

I just wanted to make sure that this wasn't anything else, and see if you've found anything OTC that's helped... heat, etc.

It seems as though it's dragging out until I can get in and see someone and get some type of answers or help. They still haven't read my MRI (it's three(?) weeks now, I guess they will just wait until I come in). I have the copy of it at home, but I'd rather not jump to any conclusions...

Thanks for the post,
~Sunnytoday~

I'm so sorry your in so much pain. Are you on any medication for pain? If you aren't you need to contact your doctor and describe what you are doing. There is many medications out there that may ease the pain.

If you have been givin a DX of probable MS, I guess you could say what you are doing is normal when your in a flair up but I would still make an appointment with your neuro and discuss pain treatment. It's no fun being in pain especially when you are trying to get much needed rest. I hope you'll start to feel better soon. I'll be thinking of you!

Take care and call your doc :)
