Stress is something people generate internally in response to external events. So the trick is to reduce the stress you generate. Being anxious is normal, but stress out about it may not be required.
Anyhow, BAER is more a test of the auditory tracts to the mid brain. The VEP tests the optic nerves, tracts and the optic chiasm. These are structures in the cerebrum. So a case of optic neuritis may well cause an abnormal VEP while the BAER would remain normal. The abnormal VEP (if it shows well preserved waveforms with increased latency) is pretty common in a demyelintion of the optic nerve. In this case, the BAER remaining normal would be expected.

Welcome, Whitewolf,
I'm glad your regular doctor wants you to see the neuro for the interp of the test. It's best to get those interps by those who ordered it, and can speak to you about the results and possible association to what you have going on clinically.
You may hear how stress cannot cause an exacerbation in MS. However, there is evidence stress has a direct affect on MS, and other chronic illnesses. There is a lot of literature on the net to support this claim. If you are intested in reading more about that - I can provide you some links.
Tell us a bit more about what's been going to to send you to the neuro and we'll do our best to help out
