adderall vs ritalin

Hello everyone and I hope everyone is doing well!

I saw my specialist yesterday for my checkup and everything is good (no new problems), so I will take it ;)

She switched me from instant release ritalin to adderall xr which is long acting. I was wondering if anyone has found that one wworks better for them with the fatigue? Also, the bottle says to take it at night which seems unusual to me. Would this be an error or is it commonly prescribed to take at night?

Thanks everyone,
Barb

Thanks for the replies, greatly appreciated. I decided to take the pills in the AM( as that makes mmore sense to me)

Next time in the pharmacy I will ask the pharmacist. It seems to be working well and it doesn't feel as 'speedy to me' wwhich is a good thing.

All the best,
Barb

Hey Barb,

It's one of the types of meds that is very individual, what works for one may not work or as well for another, what time of day you take it makes a difference but again it depends on, yep the individual.....heads up though, if it does give you more of a speed affect and increases your energy, taking it at night may disrupt your sleep and changing to AM might be better for you, all you can do is try it and see how well it works for you.

Cheers......JJ

Everyone is different and you just have to give it a try. I have heard arguments for taking both from different people. The night thing sounds weird to me but it is extended release. It does calm ADD people down? I might ask about that. Adderall makes me crawl the walls. I was just going into talk to my doctor about the extended release ritalin. I was on Nuvigil and loved it but my insurance will not okay it. Nuvigil paid for one month.
