anyone take Wellbutrin and Effexor

I have been dx since'99 and been on Welli (150mg LA) for past 4yrs ish....doc added the Effexor (venlafaxine 225mg).

I have had some bad anxiety for a while now and never stopped smoking, bite my nails like crazy, can't sleep, speedy, bitchy, etc....mind you i have always been stressed.

does this sound familiar to anyone.

I ran out of Welli about 10 days ago and am still on the V.  and am feeling better and sleeping somewhat.  I am wondering do i go get more W. or stay like this....mmmm.

Any stories, suggestions, or criticism welcome!

Thanks for the answer!!  I have not taken any more Welli but keep on with the Effexor.  I also made some "brownies" to take off the edge..lol

I took Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for a number of years. Last year I was given effexor with the Wellbutrin. I was also taking Topomax, 25 mg twice a day. I have since slowly weaned off all three because of the combined side effects. I lost weight very rapidly, started twitching, had anxiety, etc.  I am now taking nortriptyline with dry mouth being the only significant side effect. You should not stop Wellbutrin without weaning. It can cause "brain zaps" which can be quite painful. Stopping any type of medication for depression cold turkey can be dangerous. It can cause seizures.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Hyperthyroid can cause very similar symptoms.

Hope this helps.
