Hi again, your name seemed familia, so i had a quick look at your posting history and as I noted before, you still seem to be adding a lot of 'new' symptoms to your original list. When i last responded to your concerns, you were accepting that you had MS, even though you didn't have any abnormal neurological signs, or any abnormal test result evidence etc that would typically be needed to suggest neurological causation, you were still quite convinced that you definitely had MS.

If you just dissect this one symptom, what your explaining is situation orientated, which wouldn't be consistent with swallowing issues connected to MS. When you scarf your food you don't have a problem, so what your saying is that slowing down seems to be when you have a problem. People with a physiological condition for their swallowing difficulties, actually have to slow down and think about the swallowing process so they don't choke, speed is a factor but its generally the opposite of what your saying.

Is it possible, that by eating or drinking something that requires you to be slower (than scarfing?) you are just more aware of how your body functions, because you do seem to be saying, you don't have any problems rushing and that usually means no thought in the process of doing?

What you are describing doesn't sound consistent to be physical, i have to believe that it is less likely an indication of an abnormality, because of the inconsistency you are describing. I think you should seriously consider getting your mental health assessed, to see if there is the possibility that your experiencing health anxiety. I know you don't believe the dr's are right that its all anxiety, because you don't think your anxious but there is little doubt that you are still convinced and very worried about neurological conditions like MS, even though there isn't any evidence of anything. You are anxious, anxious about your health.

Think about it, IF a persons sx's are all basically superficial sensory, they don't have any abnormal test results, the majority of responses to varied questions, have not been supportive of their concerns, and so far nothing has reassured them. Not the test results, not the dr's and not the people living with the condition and still they are concerned/worried/anxious and the longer they have worried about their health, the more sx's they keep adding. That does sounds like someone who could be experiencing health anxiety to me, and i really think it would be in your best interest to at least get the anxiety possibility checked out, even if its only for peace of mind!

Food for thought............JJ

there is a powder called something like "thick it" which is tasteless and works wonders for me when I have swallowing spasms.  they come and go and when I get them, I increase my baclofen until they go away.

liquids are usually harder to get down when you have them.  talk to your doctor about it.
