Hi, it is nice to meet you! I have had a red knot come under my arm a couple of different times! It was sore and painful too!! I think they were ingrown hairs from shaving, but really really sure. They went away in a week, so I just assumed that this was what it was!!

Granny, have you had a doctor look at the spot? It might be a staph infection - definitely get it checked out, as they can get really bad.
Hi there,
You may want to try Melaleuca Oil, also known as Tea Tree Oil. I had a similar spot in my pubic hair, and was afraid it was something bad, got up the courage to show my doctor, and she told me to try tea tree oil shampoo. I did, and it went away. I know that health food stores sell the melaleuca oil in little bottles. It's great stuff, you can dilute it (a lot!) and use it as a ****** to get rid of yeast infection; my sister swears by it. My best friend uses all sorts of melaleuca oil products, and I have gotten to love them, especially this Pain-A-Trate cream for aches and pains, which I have way too many of.
Sorry, that was way more info than you were asking for. I do think that melaleuca might help your big red painful spot.
Good luck
Kathy
thanks for your comments---so nice to hear from someone
Did they give you diflucan or something to treat the yeast?
I have problems with chronic yeast infections (of the vaginal variety) and am just starting a 4 month candida cleanse which involves a healthy but restrictive diet and some supplements. I am hoping it has a positive effect on other areas of my health as well. There is some evidence of candida (yeast) problems and autoimmune problems. Steroids and antibiotics make it more likely. I get a flare-up of yeast infections about a week after IVSM.
Yeast is a fungus. I think that systemic yeast problems can become quite problematic. A topical cream may or may not clear it up.
Wouldn't the yeast infection connection be something to do with MS and urinary retention or something? Dunno, just guessing.
Hubby occasionally gets something like this--his doctor has treated him with antifungal medicine. It's something like athlete's foot--athlete's armpit. When he took oral medicine for toenail fungus, it also cured the pits. Or is yeast a fungus and that's already what you've been treated for? Hmmm.
